Early G60 - throttle body questions - WOT?

Howdy Folks.

 

Just been tinkering with my G60 before I go to Germany in it again (Fingers crossed!) on Sunday, and it occured to me to check the throttle cable.

 

When the pedal is flat to the floor, the main pivot arm thing (for lack of a better word) doesn't hit the smaller pivot arm thing.

 

 

In the picture above you can see the main lever arm travels in that little ) shaped groove. at pedal to the metal, it just hits the other end of the ) groove, but doesnt move it.

 

 

In that picture you can see it moves the secondary butterfly valve arm thing when at full throttle - presumably mine should do this?

 

If so, how do I adjust the throttle cable, and should I replace it if possible?

Yes it should move the secondary butterfly valve, if you look inside the throttle body the 'first' movement opens the smaller valve and the 'second' movement opens the bigger valve and closes the boost return valve too.

 

Throttle cable is adjusted at the throttle body, the ridges on the cable outer are used to change the length of the outer increasing the tension - you also need a small clip to achieve this, finally there should also be a bracket on the throttle body for the whole assembly to clip into.

So presumably at pedal welded to the bulkhead, the lever actuators should look like the second picture?

Is that your throttle body? and is your G60 an auto?

 

I'll get some pictures of what my throttle body is doing when the pedal is down to the floor for you

Was asking because mine doesn't have the TPS bit like the one in the pic.

 

You can also listen out for the clicks from the micro switches, soon as you press gently on the pedal you should here one and as you go to the floor you should hear the second click.

No I found the picture online, but I vaguely remember the description saying about how they'd fitting a TPS to is for a separate ECU setup.

 

It was just to illustrate the two movement pieces.

To clarify at pedal to the floor it should look like the second image, you can see where the second, larger internal butterfly valve (black plastic cam shaped one) is being driven by the first one.

 

I think the setup belongs to dirty torque if I remember correctly.

I'll take some pictures this evening, I'm not sure I've got enough adjustment at the throttle body to make it like it should.

Just finishing my dinner then i'll get the same pictures of mine for comparison.

 

Never mind, I'm being idiotic. Mines normal. Must have gotten confused when i was actuating it from under the bonnet by pulling the whole cable.

But you got me thinking is mine correct now .

 

According to this picture taken from the Corrado manual.

 

 

Is the 1mm gap referring to the area I have circled in the picture below.

 

 

Because that doesn't look like 1mm to me.
