FrankyEight 10 Posted May 10, 2016 A New Problem. My ABS dash light has never worked, never flashed at start up and gone out and never illuminated at all. I took the switch out yesterday and I can see why. I have proof that the ABS sensors were done in 2012 and the ABS system itself does work, as I tried it last night. However, the bulb looks to have been tampered with, am I right? Surely a blown bulb wouldn't look anything like this. A little confused... I'm under the impression that I need this bulb to work, regardless of the system itself working, in order to pass my MOT? Jim Bowen 1 Posted May 10, 2016 Yep, really it should come on and then go off. Depends on your MOT tester, mine passed 9 mots with no ABS light. Decided to fix it for the 10th
FrankyEight 10 Posted May 10, 2016 Good to know, thanks... The garage who looked after my old 1.8T passed it despite it being a de-cat...
seanl82 23 Posted May 10, 2016 Mine failed previously due to the light being off. From what I'd read previously, the lighting circuit forms an integral part of the system, so if it doesn't operate, the system won't work. It really depends on the tester, but up until about 3 years ago it wasn't a fail, just an advisory.
