Chaos 0 Posted July 6, 2004 i had the battery off this afternoon for a few hours and now the fuel pump is making a whining noise. according to the huge stack of receipts ive got it was only chyanged this time last yr
16VG60 1 Posted July 6, 2004 There is no immediately obvious corelation between removal of the battery and upon re-fitting experiencing a noise from the fuel pump. This i feel is just coinsidence. Have you noticed any other defect that may sugest anything more conclusive with regard to the fuel pump operation? If not then a simple fuel delivery rate check would put you at ease as to it's operation. You might also check that the fuel filter has been changed because your noise could be owing to partial starvation and susequent cavitation of the pump. The only other cause of noise is some defect with it's mounting allowing vibration.
Chaos 0 Posted July 6, 2004 its totally packed up this morning went to GSF and got a replacement, and hey the sender wont fit that pump so main stealer prices it is then :( gr8 fuc**** birthday im having :(
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 6, 2004 I didn't have any probs with my GSF VR pump. The fuel senders swapped over within minutes. The main bosch body is essentially what you get from VW, and the one GSF sell is for a Golf VR6, so comes with the fuel sender. Just rip that off and bin as it's totally different to the Corrado one. Chaos 0 Posted July 6, 2004 it def didnt fit, was quite different. but its problem solved. 8) basically the pump had come loose and was just sitting sideways in tank, so when fuel level got low it was sucking air and fuel and then finally just air. guage was reading pretty fuill at the time, but that was also down to the pumpbeing sat on its side. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 6, 2004 Ah. Yeah the pump needs a good shove to get the twist lock to work properly, otherwise it shakes loose!
Supercharged 2 Posted July 7, 2004 There is no immediately obvious corelation between removal of the battery and upon re-fitting experiencing a noise from the fuel pump But there is a corelation John, its called 'Corrado'... The theory being you replace one part and another breaks :?
