confusing water leak

Recommended Posts

ok I found my water leak coming in from the door membrane and over the door seal, so I have bought both to renew as the membrane was totally in bits and the door seal had split, now the confusing bit is I have removed the membrane (cleaned all the crap off the door ) old seal still in place at this point, had a few long down pours before I could replace and expecting a swimming pool inside the car when the rain decided to stop after about 2 days only to find its bone dry, how can this be !!!

Was the car on the flat, or on any sort of incline !

how about side to side lean?

was the car parked in exactly the same position as when it leaked?

i know for example that sometimes the passenger side has a little water ingress if it is on a slight slope with the offside lower than nearside

but if it is parked flat there is no issue at all

odd - though my mechanic always says its impossible to replicate rain lol

maybe it was a difference in wind direction

have you tried giving it a good soaking with a hose? though id refer you to the above sentence too lol

Open the car door , then use a watering can to get the water to run down the window , check the bottom of the door card for leaks . Also it should come out of the bottom of the door , where the drain holes are .
