fla 9 Posted December 23, 2016 My nephew has a 520d 2011. Apparently there is some issue with the timing chains and he has been quoted £1500 to have it done. That's really a lot of money but does anyone know of a reputable bmw specialist ideally in north west London. Many thanks.
swiftkid 1 Posted December 24, 2016 Hey can't help with where to go but I have been warned against timing chains on the e90's. The e46 had the timing chains on the front for nice easy access but then they moved them to the rear so it's gearbox off/engine out job Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
fla 9 Posted December 24, 2016 thanks swifty. Yes you're right they're at the back. I think its the tensioner at this stage as he sent me a vid of it running and it sounded noisy. That said he also said that sometimes it was noisy sometimes not. Lets see..
