Which corrado?

with my 2kish budget in mind,

 

 

which corrado for that price would be best to go for?

 

i was thinking 2.016v or

1.8 16v

 

or G60---------->> i really want one of these :D

 

how do these diffrent corrados compare?

running cost,reliability, spec and most importantly PERFORMANCE?

In short... if you only have £2000 to spend, buy a 1.8 16v.

 

If you are new to it all, they are the cheapest to buy, one of the most reliable, and one of the cheaper ones to run. Good one to cut your teeth on.. then when you have a bit more cash or are feeling a bit more suicidal, upgrade to a G60 or VR6.

I'd definately say to go with the 1.8 16V too.... LOADS of spare bits for the engines available cheaply 'cos the same engine was used in the golf, passat, scirocco, corrado etc etc etc... ;) 8)

 

They ain't exactly slow either (no matter what people with G60s or VR6s make out! ;) )

Hehe.. no Henny.. the koni's combined with my Eagle F1's mean that I rarely struggle to find grip even in the wet. But then I don't take the corners at anything more than sensible speeds when it rains.. i'd rather not be making the call to my old man to help me tow my car out of a ditch.

 

Just that the G60 is a killer on petrol.. and once you get into mods (which are so affordable on the G60) then your insurance will suffer heavily too. Not to mention if the wee charger decides it doesn't like you and blows up - you are left with a stinger of a bill!

so how much is it if the charger does go?

and does that kind of shit happen often?

 

im not afraid of the petrol prices as i used to own a fiat coupe 20vT, (which killed petrol) :lol:

 

TBH i have to discount the 1.816v as it is basicly what i have got now,

id really be looking for the 9ablock 2.016v or the g60,

 

i dream of g60's, golf and corrados :lol:

 

what else about the g60 corrado is essential to know?

Go to http://www.corradoclub.co.uk I think £2K is just below the mark for a reliable G60 tbh. Id go for a 1.8 16v and get it tuned and running well. If i had £3k id go for a G60. If i had £4k id go for a VR6. Have you read the buying guide on the forum?

Well as Fraser said, you should read the buyers guide.. I think it lives in Common Corrado Questions.

 

The G60 charger isn't that bad.. it just has certain tolerances, and its quite easy to exceed them.. the result can often be a blown charger if you don't take care of it.

 

Worst case scenario is the charger blowing, sending fragments of the scroll into both the intercooler and then into the engine.. big bill for that one! :(
