Have I set an official record ... for the most written-off ?

Recommended Posts

OK now you'd think that I'm trying out to be a crash test dummy ...

But as luck would have it ... I've had my beauitful new VR6 for exactly a month (after writing off the previous one in April) and was driving home through Epping Forest on Sunday evening.

Can you see where this is going ...

Approached a sharp right-hand bend in the road and a car came speeding around the corner on my side of the road (see skidmarks).

He skidded, I swerved but he still smashed into my door and scraped along the side of my car.

Pushed me off the road and by the time I managed to open my door he had sped off.

Were two witnesses walking along side of road who managed to get half of the registration.

I know the exact make/model/colour and the police said they can search the database with the given details and hopefully track the car down.

If you see a White Toyota Corolla (hatchback) registration G 797 ??? with driver's wing/bumper damage please notify me !

So I'm left to pay my £350 excess ... and lose my no claims bonus ... bugger.

Insurance have decided NOT to repair as it's a CAT C write-off.

The good news to all your VR6 owners: Prices have now increased due to one more Corrado being taken off the road.

Does this mean I've written off the most Corrado VR6's ?!

Anyone fancy a project ?

Might buy this one off insurance company to pass on.

Got smooth 114K engine (totally standard) and grey heated leather.

Hmmm ...

bugger me.... what a twat. hope you find him (and give him a good beating)

shame to hear of the misfortune.

trouble with corrados is the write off so easily due to the high price or repair parts.... what looks like a simple repair can cause the write off as the new part will bump the repair cost up to around 50% the value of the car.

you gonna get another corrado then?

Hopefully with that info the police should be able to track down that guy with that information and nail him. God knows they could do with helping out us motorists once in a while.

Good luck Eug - you appear to be one of the most cursed Corrado owners.

Ah Man, Eug, I am soooooo gutted for ya, that was a sweet motor... :(

I can't believe that the insurance company are gonna write that off, it doesn't look enough for that... :|

I hope the police catch him (or someone else gets the driver ;) )

Not sure if I'll tempt fate and get a 3rd although I'm in love with them and always glance back at my car after parking it.

Wheels got plastic on them but polished off fine.

Eug, You must be the most unlucky Corrado owner on this forum.

Thats two in 6 months at this rate there will be none left in about ten years. :)

seriously though the police will be able to track down the vehicle from the details you have given them.

The only problem being it is probably a ned mobile that has passed through a dozen owners since the last registered

keeper.

You can be guaranteed that the owner will have 1 no driving licence,2 no insurance,3 no MOT,4 was drunk,or

all of the foregoing. :o

At least you are uninjured as a result :)

Things can only get better :?: :?: :?:

Gutted for you Eug.

Don't let these two knocks put you off future ownership though mate.

Third time lucky with the next one?

(Then again, you could do the hat-trick)

Ahhh, you'll be ok. get another.

Nice one. Keep it in the family. Another one spared from the crushers.

OK I think it's time for a National Corrado Salvation campaign!

I hereby urge all Corrado owners to drive at 3mph and be extra vigilant. We need to keep as many of these fantastic cars alive as possible

Thanks guys for all your comments.

The witnesses saw the car from the front and said they looked Asian.

Was 4 teenagers.

Another witness in a car behind them said that car was speeding through High Beach car park.

Damage not bad, although it needs a new door.

Driver's wing slightly scratched under the side-repeater (well, where it used to be !)

and rear wing needs a good beating !

I'll put up more details next week after my claim goes through.

The MOT runs out on the 27th July and it's taxed until end of July.

So I'll be storing the car off the road in Oxford (under a cover)

and use my mum's car until I decide whether or not to get another one.

Yes I'm gutted but at least time this was not my fault and I was not hurt.

Anyone know where I stand legally if we can't trace the driver ?

I mean it will count as a claim against me and I won't get my excess back :(

"only" a valver! Still a Corrado mate and an unnecessary addition to already dwindling numbers :?
