How to remove some trim

Recommended Posts

I amn stripping out my corrado to be resrayed.

Does anyone know how to get the a pillar trim off, i can;t work out how the seatbelt height adjuster comes off, i can;t seem the get the knob off, and i can;t get an allen gey behind to take the seat belt adjuster bracket off.

Cheers

The a-pillar trim is easy, just remove the screw near the top of the windcreen, then pull down the grab handle and pop off the little plastic covers revealing two screws, undo them and remove the grab handle. The whole A-pillar trim will now pull off as it is just held with trim clips.

The b pillar trim comes off by removing the rear cards and undoing the screws behind it and you just have to pull like hell on the adjuster knob, it does come off.

Pull like hell, i don;t like the sound of that, sounds like something might break, will give it a try, i am sure in can get another knob if it breaks.

The only thing likely to break is your fingers... they're tough little feckers... :| Be careful though, 'cos when they do come off, they tend to do it suddenly making you fly across the car, and the metal bit they leave behind may be slightly sharp and can cut your fingers... Not one of VW's finest designs...

Might be talking about different pillar trim here...

The a-pillar (up the side of the windscreen and over the door) - as Henny says.

The b-pillar (with the seatbelt mounting on it) - pull off the cover for the coat-hook at the top and unscrew the metal hanger, remove the seatbelt adjuster knob and the cover for the upper seatbelt mounting so that you can unbolt the heatbelt mounting, then pry off the plastic cap located in the pillar trim below the seatbelt mounting slot and remove the screw, pull the trim off the bodyshell.
