I asked at my local VW breakers if they had aheadlmp ( £100 new from ECP ) and he said no but you can buy the lens separate from the dealers for about £25. Is this correct?

Yes, glass can be changed separately, held in with spring clips around the edge of the unit. Easy!

Have a look on ebay. I got a brand new driver's side glass (the one I needed!) for £5!

The price of VAG parts must vary between stealers. I say this because when people say stuff like "they're only £xx from VAG" I generally find that my local stealer (Robinsons - North Walsham) charges more....e.g. £90 inc. VAT for a couple of Lupo wiper arms!
