Scott 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Just bought one myself so wouldnt mind knowing.... £12.95 + VAT!!! Just need to paint it now though.... reckon can do this myself or get bodyshop to paint it?
Supercharged 2 Posted August 13, 2004 For my Kamei one I had to drill pilot holes is the slam panel and headlight surround to match the ones on the spoiler and the use the self tappers which were supplied... If yours didn't come with any fixings then I'd call Kamei and buy a fixing kit, make sure you use enough screws as I've heard thecheap ones like to fly off when you reach 100mph! chrishill 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Mine was fitted by the bodyshop when i got the respray done, from what i can see its bonded to the slam panel with some white stuff! :? I've had no problems with it flying off at 100+ but obviously its not ideal becuase you cant take it off easily if you need to.
Scott 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Looks like I am going to have fun
Supercharged Junkie 0 Posted August 13, 2004 I just drilled two holes into the slam panel, used 2 self taping screws....and there you go....the rubber bit on the edge of the bonnet holds it in place, but beware not to slam the bonnet down otherwise it will break :x
Supercharged 2 Posted August 13, 2004 I think you need about 10 holes in total if there aren't any on the spoiler at the moment - I would look at my car but its 50 miles away at the moment...
Scott 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Ten holes? So what happens if you come to remove it to sell the car? - you left with ten holes? I think I need to look at other ways of sticking it on - glue gun anyone?
Supercharged 2 Posted August 13, 2004 There only small and hidded by the bonnet
Scott 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Yeah but I meant when you open the bonnet..... would look messy. Anyone wanna buy a grill spoiler
Supercharged 2 Posted August 13, 2004 Like my Junkie says, I forgot the bonnet clamps it so you may not need as many holes (I was thinking Mk2's) Also good point about not slamming it too!
Scott 0 Posted August 13, 2004 I was thinking about using silkoflex.......... run a bead along the grill spoiler.... - put in place... shut bonnet... Job done? the silkoflex should absorb some impact from the bonnet and no screws required!! - very strong stuff!!
kvwloon 0 Posted August 13, 2004 Mine's a fibreglass copy of the Kamei spoiler, I just did what Scott, says, apply some clear silicone sealant to the underside, place in position, shut bonnet, job done. (P.S don't forget to 'drop' the bonnet closed from about waist height, never close by pressing on the bonnet itself unless you like dents!)
