magicrat1 0 Posted August 28, 2004 My 94 VR6 has a Militek ss exhaust, and a Kn57i induction kit. It sounds great, but do I need to dob myself into my insurance company? I told them I had a ss exhaust, too which they asked, "does it change the performance?". I replied with a "No". What should I admit to? Confused. :? Don't want to have a bang and have invalidated insurance. PS. My VR6 is 77k, HPi, FSH, I am the second owner, and I have pumped cash into it,(3K), resolving many normal rado head aches. How can I insure my car so that I get what its worth in the event of a crash? A sirocco owner i know got shafted by the insurance company, he had rebuilt the car, with many extras. Well the induction kit needs to be declared, as it's a performance enhancement, but you probably don't need to tell them about the exhaust, because it's just an OE replacement. If you don't want to get shafted in the event that you do stuff your C, then you need to have an agreed value policy with the insurer. People like Chris Knott and others will do this for an additional £10 or so. Similarly, if you go with them you won't pay much extra fo the mods you do have done. I'm with elephant, but only because they were a good few hundred £ cheaper than anyone else. However, they don't do an agreed value policy and they will charge you a huge amount extra for any mods. It's worth calling around people on the insurance contacts sticky thread. It's a long list, but worth working your way through a good few of them. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 29, 2004 Declare *everything*. Some insurance companies will look for the smallest of non-declared items to get out of paying out for a claim, so best to tell them about everything to be on the safe side. My insurance company only wanted £20 to add some bigger alloys, Schrick manifold and cams, throttle, rechip etc etc... A small price for peace of mind.
