Corradoboy18 0 Posted May 15, 2003 A year or so ago some guy working in a junk yard told me that he aquired a factory stock twin turbo Vr6. :? Now i've looked all over the web and have found no such engine. I even emailed VW put didn't get the info i was looking for. Was this guy telling me the truth or just pulling my chain? Anyways, i asked him what car he was going to put it in. Guess what he said...a CABRIO. Can you believe that Sh!t, a Cabrio  . Who would've thought? VR6 0 Posted May 15, 2003 Not really tuning and mods and more of a general car theme so I'll move this. As for the engine, I seriously doubt a * factory-stock* twin turbo VR. I believe that these engines have been created though.
Jim 2 Posted May 15, 2003 I think he was winding you up... I am pretty certain no such beast (at least not in Corrado form) ever left the Karmann factory.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 15, 2003 I've seen a few twin turbo VR6 engines (2 x Garrett T25s) but VW certainly never made one! Kev 94 VR6
G60 0 Posted May 15, 2003 wouldn't that be a nice setup to stumble upon in the yard!!!?
dazzyvr6 0 Posted May 15, 2003 i dont think vw were using turbos when the corrado was born, only superchargers,im sure someone will correct me if im wrong
VR6 0 Posted May 15, 2003 I'm pretty sure that there was an early mk2 turbo diesel golf dazzy. Early meaning around 88.

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted May 15, 2003 The 1.8T engine was under development when the Corrado bit the bullet. Interesting really as VW are dumping the turbo engine in favour of 2.0 FSI engines and the big 6. Out of interest, do you still have to let the turbo slow down before switching the engine off these days? Kev
Corradoboy18 0 Posted May 15, 2003 I know for a fact that letting a turbo sit for a few minutes after really stepping on it is essential to the life of the turbo, but not if you're just cruising conservatively. I don't know about the 1.8T, it's a really tiny turbo.
