Sunroof expert required!!

Hi folks,

My car is in the body shop at the mo and before it went in I managed to get the sunroof to slide by removing the passenger side 'rocker arm'.

It slides back fine but when you slide it closed again the passenger side flicks up and catches on the strengthening ribs making lovely scratch marks.

The body shop has replaced the 'rocker arm' (well ok replaced the whole sunrrof assembly) with another but still has the same problem - it catches on the passenger side but only when sliding closed - it lifts.

Any ideas how to fix this? Or is it tilt only for ever?

Checked the rest of the forum but nothing really mentions the problem like this i.e. the lifting Waterguide plate? if so what is that?

Tattie, are both sides of the roof moving at the same time? Pretty sure the Bentley has the full sp on this. If moving bits on the cable are not in exactly the same place it will move assymetrically(big word).

I replaced a cable on my MK3 a few weeks ago and it was an hours messing about to make it all work perfectly

If it tilts okay, but catches on the underside of the roof when trying to close it from the silde position, you need to replace Part No. 1h0 898 019 "water Guide Plate".

If that still doesn't work, I'm afraid the roof frame itself is donald-ducked...

My one was doing same and on same side, I went to scrap yard and got everything subframe motor and even pannel for my trouble.... £10. took a risk to whether or not it worked, but hey. Corrados share same sun roof tech as passat of same age and also Mark3 golfs I beleive.

simple unbolt/bolt job.

Cheers,

passed on the info about the water guide plate (message on answer machine) but will also ring tomorrow.

Gav - Whole roof slides backwards and forwards, just on closing it lifts slightly, so its not 'out of sync'.
