yes the process just for dipping is around 3 grand. Ok this is my method of madness a decent car cost around 30k these days. I plan to make the car as good as new, concourse condition so i am budgeting between 20- 30 k to do. i never plan to sell the car just keep it so instead of buying a new car for 30 k i going to plough the money into building a new corrado. in many years to come it may be worth so money it may not. i only plan to do this once so its going to be done properly.
the dipping process is used on new cars, i was toying with blasting but this can damage the metal.
its going to be a slow old process but will be as good as new when i have finished:)
yes you can call me a nutter lol

ok its been a while so time for update.
i have finished stripping items off shell except for a couple of bungs and side trim, one more afternoon and that will be done.
i am looking into dipping shell. there is some corrosion around the drivers side rear arch, where water and dirt have collected around fuel filler neck. other than that it looks solid.
i need to get tow bar fitted to my transporter so i can tow the car around.
i will get some pictures up when the car has been dipped and the body work is repaired and re-sprayed, then i will put it all back together to include the engine being rebuilt and re-trimed
glad i am nearly finished running out of garage space lol

now that really is a full strip down!I hope you've labelled everything well :)
yes stripping down to the bare shell

i have been plodding along, getting the glass out was a pain in the butt, finished stripping complete interior. fuel tank is removed and everything else from underneath car needs to be removed. I have been working away from home lots recently and progress is slow but i never intended to rush this anyway.
once i have the shell full stripped the bodywork will be started

i would like the trim that runs along the door seals, the trim that runs along the top of the windscreen if available please

update, steering rack removed, pedal assembly removed heater matrix removed, started to remove all wiring

next remove glass, then i will purchase a rollover jig and work removing all components underneath car.
i have also started acquiring bits on ebay so wallet starting taking a bashing:)

You have to admire the commitment!!! have you dared to set a budget and a timescale...Good luck.
I have not set a budget, its just going to cost what it takes to do right but as a rough guess i think it will cost around the 20k mark. I know it will never be worth this much but i aim to make it like new and if it lasts another 20 years its cheaper than buying a decent car and will only ever increase in money over time and not decrease. I have two reasons for doing this, one i always wanted a corrado vr6 and i love restoring cars.

not sure if i will get shot but its worth a mention that vw heritage have now started selling corrado parts.
