  1. evenin jezz, yea mate i did it good n proper, didnt ask about bigger valves patrick wasnt there, plus with the amount i spent so far i didnt wanna have to take out a mortgage
  2. looks like cold weather heater pipe that normally runs to your airbox, though i jus noticed the airbox is on the other side, could be coolant pipe for lambda sensor
  3. yup took the head apart... not one valve survived have stripped em all out, guides are still ok no play or ovalling in any of them, taken it to the engine co. should be about £120 supply new valves skim and de-coke and theyre gonna replace the exhaust manifold studs, im gonna lap the valves in myself after ive ported n polished, mates got a nice tim styles head sittin on the bench i can copy :)
  4. Bit easier than mine, i didnt have half the height u got there, plus my brand spankin new wibble wobble bit didnt stay firm enough (wise choice of words ) to hold the socket upright so i had to get a mate to guide me onto the nuts from on top. my god sounds like somthing out of a bad porn novel
  5. pistons are comin to the top of the bore i shouldnt see any probs, i think the valves took all the impact, pistons look ok a bit of the carbon is scraped off where they touched but thats all
  6. Well hope u all like the pic, I'm just hoping the guides arn't knackered and that i may be able to use the head again ;) fat chance i rekon
  7. Looks loads easier, cheers for that steve :) bit of a wiggle to get it all out tho i guess? ;)
  8. Ace thanks i got a big breaker bar, fun part is im on my back outside, havnt got a wobble ext bar or a deep socket tho :( have to go ask a friend
  9. Anyone know a quick and easy method of getting the down pipe off a g60? i cant undo the inlet manifold bolts because they are rounded off and it looks near impossible to get to them from underneath, any ideas anyone?
  10. Well, got my bits today ran compressions and got a big fat 0 on all 4 cylinders. in the middle of pulling the head off now, (by the way does anyone have any tricks on how to get the down pipe off? inlet manifold bolts are rounded off so i gotta take it off in one go) checked the vales as i took of the rocker cover and at least 2 are jammed open, this ones gonna be fun by the looks of it, I sense a big head porting job coming up :D
  11. Bit are on order new pulley £24inc the vat.. new bolt £2.57 inc the vat.. the look on my face when the thing runs?? priceless!
  12. whoops, gunning the shit outta mine as soon as i got it back prob aint done it much good then?
  13. yea was gonna run compressions and go from there, im pretty optimistic i blew a ford cvh cambelt b4 stuck a new belt on and away she went, i class my self as lucky
  14. anyone from cornwall should get in touch with jez and simon at RK engineering in st agnes http://www.rk-engineering.co.uk 01872 553839 theyve been set up for about 2 months and have a vast knowledge of vw's esp g60's they also supply some pretty dope tuning equipment wacky cams and really good price silicone hoses plus they have a sun rolling road and Vagcom so they can sort ur motor out and get it running sweet!
  15. Ok not quite the cambelt it was the bottom pulley, the locating lug is still wedged in the crank salvagable by the looks of it, but i'll need a new bottom pulley, if anyone has a spare one let me know am worried however at the state of my valves n pistons im running a piper fast road cam so chances are its gonna need 8 new valves, a head job seems immenent :) Let me know your views n horror stories
