  1. cheers guys, i'll give it a go earky part of next week. one of the chaps that looked at the car reckons the timing chains need to be done, I'm at 103k but the engine is a lot quieter than most ive heard for that mileage or above. is he pulling my chain or should I seriously consider getting them done?

  2. Hi All, My c is completely f***ed at the moment!! When i drive it from cold the revs go up and down and sometimes it feels like there is no power at all when i put my foot down in first! Every time i come to a stand still, change down a gear or approach a roundabout the car stalls!!

Ive just ad the hall sender looked at and the lambda probe replaced, but still the same problem if not worse. Im gonna get it on vagcom in the next few days, but dont want to get caught out by the stealers, Ive already had the guy who does all the work on the car telling me to get the timing chains done (the car has done 103k), but is tight and drives well with not a lot of noise coming from the chains. Any ideas guys??

  3. Hey guys, hopefully you can help me. I am trying to find the opposite side (drivers side) copy of the small plastic bit of trim that holds in the seat belt, located in the picture, just to the right of the speaker. I'm not too sure what its called, where I would find one, and wondered if anyone had a spare one or could recommend where to try to find one. Any help is greatly appreciated  if this is in the wrong section my apologies

  4. Ive driven all of them with my last but one car being a y reg 3.0 v6 24v alfa spider convertible. I had this car for just over a year, but before buying it tried lotus, bmw, honda, porsche, mercedes and the vauxhall. Personally i found the honda very hard work around town and felt like i was really ranting the engine to get any response from it (that'll be the vtec engine!). Nice sporty drive and the one i looked at was black with leather and a hard top. Definately go for a hard top if its an everyday driver, both of the two convertibles Ive had've both been tampered with and this hard top is essential for the winter months. Twice been stung with approaching summer months, lets p/x the car and buy a convertible, dont get me wrong driving a convertible in the summer with the roof down is absolutely fantastic and I will get another, but only as a substititute for the summer. If its all year round dont forget the merc 230 or 300 for holding its value and all year use. Also consider the vauxhall it whips the ass off the lotus, larger engine and rarer, yeah I know its a vauxhall, but if its an occasional driver go for it! Alfa will be quicker again with the bhp 3litre and so much torque, but depends what ur into! Hope this advise helps

  5. Did you all know that following legislation regarding freedom of information there is now a website allowing you access to speed camera offences. This website not only shows you if a ticket has been issued on your vehicle if you were 10% over the speed limit BUT also shows if your car has been clocked just 1 mile per hour over the limit. If this is the case you will receive a ticket.

Go to http://www.e-database.co.uk it will ask you for a password but just click on NEED A LOGIN and it will give you a password etc in a pop up window. It will also show you a picture of any offence.

    Good Luck!

  6. cheers guys. The blower motor is definately a different size to the standard vw one. I'll contact the gut in Surrey first and also with respect to kent gradeAfailure i'll pm you after talking to keith first. summer months ahead & wearing a suit with a gut and hairy chest like mine, i aint lookin' forward to it unless i get this sorted asap!!!

  7. I have an after fit diavia air con unit, fitted in 97 onto a 93 vr6. the motor makes a loud whirring noise when placed onto anything but the lowest setting. I have had it taken apart and glued together as aparently there were some broken sections within the motor, however the motor is still noisy, just not as noisy!! :? I have taken it to a local garage and vw who are quoting me £30 for a new standard ie non air con blower motor. I require a diavia blower motor or similar that from the enclosed below will cost me just over £200!! Does anyone know where i can get a cheaper version from or anyone else I can take the car to to mend the current air con. The air con works fine ie its cold and stuff, its just i need to turn my stereo up to mute the motor noise!

Should i just bite the bullet and pay for the blower motor, or can anyone help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated

  9. possibly, it does seem to be on the backs of the wings either side of the car and on the drivers door. Bonnet has definately been done forstone chips, but polishes up fantastically. Perhaps i should try putting a bit less on, just seems weird as it smudges and doesnt wipe off completely when washed again :? from previous cars there is a white powdery residue and then it dissapears when wiped

  10. Everytime I polish the car i get a misty and patchy white haze on the car in certain, but not regular spots!! The car is washed with an autoglym shampoo then shammied and then polished with t-cut or a normal polish. What is going on, am I applying too much or trying to cover too wide an area?? Any advice appreciated :?

  11. I am just in the process of looking to get an alarm and the toad Ai606 looks best value for money. Otherwise theres the Clifford stuff, loads of gadgets but from personal experience £550 quids worth of it, those flashy alarms are more hassle than they're worth, spent every 1/2 hour out checking out the car, and when it starts and flashes at you u wonder if the expense is worth the hassle. I was more concerned about the car after the alarm had been fitted!!!
