  1. Hi all I hearing knocking from the rear passenger side suspension as I go over poor road surfaces. I am thinking that the shock has failed. My car has been lowered by 40mm (this was done before I bought the car). You can see the red springs but I am not sure if the shocks have been uprated and I dont know how to check. Would it v bad if I replace the shock with a standard one? As you can tell I dont know much about the suspension system. Thanks, Adil
  2. Hi all. My Front window wipers dont work on maximum speed. They seem to work on all other settings though. I dont know very much about wiper settings and how they differ in speed. Can someone tell me so I can investigate? Thanks, Ads.
  3. I had few problems with some electrical items after accessing the fuse box. It ended up being the relays being loose in fuse box. Might be worth giving the relays a small wiggle to see if anything changes?
  4. Actually the problem I have is not the connector on the back of the airbox. I liked it directley and it still had the problem. If I wiggle the air box gentley the problem seems to go. Therefore I am guessing its a similar problem to the one you have stated (wires under the air box). No fuses blown yet but I am guessing that the drivers side indicator and headlamp wires have chaffed and are touching each other. Dont seem to get maximum speed on the wipers either. From your advice, I will take the air box off this weekend me thinks. Cheersv AD
  5. Yep conleycrew3, it looks to be that connector on the back of airbox. I wigeled it about and the lights started working as normal. I have to look why it is so loose but worst case I might put some crimps on there. cheers mate, Ad
  6. Hi all. I found a bit of a problem last night when I was parking up after a night out. The drivers side indicator was on and flickering when the stalk was in the mid position. It was not flashing but flickering on and it was front, back and side repeaters that were doing it. This was happening when the headlamps were on. I moved the stalk to the other positions and the indicators worked ok but when I put the stalk in the mid position the flickering/on syndrome came back. I have put in an uprated loom for the headlamps and I disconected the dip coil on the passenger side only. Is there one the drivers side too? would it cause this problem?. The other thing I am concerned about it is the crappy alram that was fitted on this car, it seems to have a mind of its own. Any other ideas? anyone had a similar problem? Ad

    Clunking...

Yes I have a similar problem but unfortunatley I dont know the answer. When pulling away in 1st or changing from 1st to 2nd, I have to be v gentle on the releasing the clutch for a reasonably smooth change otherwise its jolts and makes a clunk noise, other changes are fine. My C has always been like that. Be interested to know peoples opinions. Ad

    Fuse Box

My car would not start this morning as the fuel pump was not enerjising. Found it to be the imobilser relay was faulty so re-connected the wire to the fuel pump as original. In this process at one time I took the fuse box off the brackets to have a better view of wires and after I put it back. I have now just realised that the window wash/wipers, fog lights, and heater are not working! I have looked at the fuses and they seem ok. Can someone tell me the fuse designation on the fuse box for the above so I can double check. I pray that a connector has not come undone because I would not know where to start with all those wires. Any information would be much appriciated. Thanks, AD
  9. Hi all. Not sure if this one is a common problem but my drivers door handle dont work. The door seems to open from the inside but nothing from the outside. I will look at the mechanisem tommarow. Is there a weak point in the mechanism? Common problem? Ad.

    HELP!

I fitted a new voltage regulator and still had the problem of the headlamps dimming when driving. I have just fitted an uprated wiring loom and seems to have sorted the problem!! yippe! The question I have left on the topic is this dim dip bussiness. I have disconnected 1 yellowish connection block comming from a 75mm long componet thats secured to the inner wing beside the battery. I believe this is coil that people talk about, but is there one per headlight? ie do I have to do the same to the other side when the air box is? I have it disconnected and see no difference in operation of the lights with regards to switching/engine running etc. Oh and after I sorted this problem I grabed the door handle to get into the car and the door would not open! ... one prob goes another comes! I will ask as another topic.
  11. I recently had to change the centre box on my 1.8 16V C. I got an centre box from eurocarparts for £80 and decided to fit it myself as other places were quoting £200 fitted. When fitting it there seems to be a big difference in diameters for the centre box - end box join and it wont clamp together no matter how tight and yes its slightly blowing. The manufacturer is Bosal. I might try and make a sleeve to make the difference in diameter so it clamps/crushes and seals nice. May be I should not have got for the cheap option but I forked out a lot of money a couple weeks before for a replacement cylinder head as my cam belt stripped when the tensioner siezed! ....but I dont care what "non-believers" say about my C I still love it!!!!

    HELP!

Hi Chaps, Thanks for your replies. The headlamps seem to twitch and then dim as if they are dipped, not switching to dipped I believe. I will try and investigate the problem prior to buying/making a new loom I think. I measured the voltage accross the battery when I was reving the engine and it was 13.8V. This drops to 13.7V when the lights are switched on. Are these readings ok?, bearing in mind I have 1.8 16V with a 65Amp alternator. Also I have noticed that one of my rear fog lights has blown a bulb. Would this affect the rest of the lighting system? I have so many things to sort on my C, my girlfriend is getting jelious!, one step at a time. Ad

    HELP!

Hi all, need help! My headlights on my 1.8 16V keep dimming. This only happens when the car is running and the car is in gear, particularly when I push the acelerator hard, infact the accelerator on occasion acts like a switch! dimming my headlights ie it does not happen when I rev the engine freely standing still. and oh the alternator belt is tight. Its a nightmare, other drivers think I am flashing them when I lift of the accelerator as the headlights go back to normal. I heard about a uprated wiring loom for the headlight, I might get one in hope that it sorts it out. Anyone had a similar prob? Had my corrado for 3 year now and for some reason this year I am getting lots anoying of costly problems! ADs.
