Supercharged, it was new distributor. That was it! Now cambelt needs replacing and water pump ineffectual. yeehah

erm, i'm not overly qualified to answer your question, but my 2.0 16v also has been stalling on me a lot recently. I took it into Vw (because I have cash coming out of ears - I wish) and they were pretty unhelpful. When driving away from the dealership, it stalled yet again. RAC bloke said there was no spark from coil and there was no fuel pump feed. After a number of attempts, got it going. It then broke down again 3 miles later. It's either (possibly) a suspect ECU/relay not switching on or engine pick up sensor not reading movement of engine correctly, so maybe electrical after all. The excess moisture might have had a negative effect on the electricy bits on yours. and anybody, btw, how much will I be expecting to pay to sort this out? Thanks anyone, someone etc etc, dlmb500

aye, it was a water leak and a few other things contributing. Cold weather has also helped bring temp down. Vw specialists said gauges were +10 deg inaccurate so all's now good. now to move on to the bodywork....

hullo anyone getting around to sorting my interior out, and i'm after 1 speaker cover to fit passenger door speaker. The other one all present and correct in my side is an 'aktiv' one. also, the seats are a bit minging but a decent clean should do it. i've tried standard carpet cleaner stylee, but need something a bit stronger. any ideas anyone?? :!: thanks all, DLMB500

bonjour i have had overheating problems with 2.0 16 v 93 model since end June and starting to lose my near legendary patience. I've had it at VW specialists who have replaced coolant, checked (nearly-new) radiator, and that's not the case. I'm having it checked out yet again on Monday and don't want to spend yet another limbs-worth of cash. Please assist. Thanks :? measuring 110 on oil, 109 on water, and the coolant bulb has just started flashing again. This is after 10 mins of non-town traffic.
