  1. cheers dude, yeah I'd be up for that. I've seen a few around here, there's a grey G60 in St Ives I've seen a few times and red valver near here somewhere. Got a nod from an old boy in a mint green storm in St Ives a while back which made me chuckle :D
  2. Thanks for all your input guys. I think bristolbaron has nailed it! I'll have a check for any plugs underneath the front seats to see if they did come from a VR. But I reckon that these are early leather seats with retrimmed door cards. Which by looking at the different amount of wear between the seats and cards would make sense. I think I will put in the effort and restore these as there's no great rush to sell them straight away, and if i could get 450 for them that would be virtually a third of the cost of the whole car recouped. + it'll be a good learning experience. Thanks again all for helping me solve this little mystery and helping me make my mind up on what to do with them. Praise be to the CF masses.
  3. They're definitely not heated Portent. I thought that having heated leather was just an option? I may be totally wrong on that though :D The car they came out of was a very early VR and when I asked the guy if he knew anything about the interior, he told me that his mate said it might be some weird interim change between the old and new interior styles LOL But I wasn't buying it for the interior anyway. Already though it is starting to sound like it has been retrimmed at some point.
  4. I got these seats and door cards from an early VR that I bought last year solely for its engine. As you can see from the pics there's quite a bit of colour wear on the front seats and the drivers seat has a couple of nasty rips on the side bolster. The rear bench and door cards aren't too bad and just have a few scratches here and there. They're a bit unusual though as the door cards don't have the usual ribbing above the arm rest areas and the seats don't have the usual stitching/padding style that you get on leather rado seats. I've never actually seen a set like this in a rado before which kind of makes me think they may have been re-trimmed at some point, but by the amount of wear on them I find this a little hard to believe and they do seem to be factory built. Has anybody else seen a set like this before????? I asked the guy who i bought the car from about them but he didn't know anything about it really. My question really is should i repair the rip in the drivers seat and re-colour them? or just try and sell them as is? If i did do all the work to get them looking good again i'd hope to get around £450 for them but as they are I'm not sure I'd even get £100. Either way they're going to be sold. I think I'd rather spend a bit of cash doing them up and getting the best price I could for them but i'm wondering if its really worth it? all opinions welcome :)
  5. I had exactly the same problem as this a while ago guildmage. My ABS light was on constantly, but after a long drive and then turning the ignition off and then on again the light would go out and the ABS worked perfectly. It turned out to be a bad connection on the leads going into the ABS pump. It just needed a good a squirt of WD40 and a bit of brass wire brushing to clean the connectors of any dirt or corrosion and its been fine ever since..... Always worth checking the simple things first.
  6. I'll take the coilpack of you. can you post it to me?
  7. Hi there, I'm just up the road from you in Huntingdon :)
  8. 1.8 16v | Dragon Green | Hemel Hempstead Price: £550 Description: I'm posting this for a good friend of mine as he's lost his login details to here. From what I've seen of this car its a very solid and original corrado and has heaps of paperwork on all work carried out on it since new. It does have a few problems that need sorting, but he has all the parts that you'll need to fix it up including a spare engine, cv joint and fusebox. The paintwork is quite dull but would come up great with a good clean and a polish. Someone has added some horrible chrome strips at some point which can be seen in the pics, but these should be easy enough to remove. The interior is very tidy. As he says the only reason he hasn't done the work himself is that he just hasn't got the time. Should you decide to fix the problems or break it, this car is a bargain at £550 This is the write up he gave me for it: 1991 rado kr 1.8 16v too good to break all original and unmodified 125,000miles full serv history and docs going back to new, 3 owners who kept every receipt etc This car has an electrical prob that drains battery rapidly, a top end rattle, noisey C.v and maybe a couple of other little things... i have a spare k.r engine/head i have new C.V i have a spare fuse box i dont have time, money, or space so sadly it has to go... personally would love to see it back on the road but my golf is falling to bits Price £550 Call Steve on 07976155126
  9. Items arrived today, thanks mate. by the way have you got any hints or tips on fitting these? as I've never taken a seat apart before :) or is it just a case of getting stuck in there and it'll become apparent how to go about it.
  10. I'll take one of your seat base side bolster covers please [right side]
  11. lol no worries thanks for your help anyway Dic :)
  12. that makes things a lot simpler :D thanks for clearing that up for me Kev
  13. Cool thanks for that Dic. Looks like its a goer on getting this donor car then. One thing though when you say the hall sender wiring will need to be sorted what do you mean exactly? I kinda thought/hoped that since my car is a coilpack version already that all I would need to do is do a swap over on the cams and end plate. apologies for my ignorance on this :S From what you say though it sounds like it shouldnt be too much trouble to sort it all out. I wont be doing the conversion for a while yet anyway but when i do I'll probably be giving you a shout :D thanks again. D
  14. I'm thinking of buying a donor car this coming weekend which has the older type dizzy VR. The engine on the donor car has essentially been reconditioned with new chains and tensioners etc and also bored out to 3 litres :D I want this to replace my VR which is the later coilpack version. I want to make this donor engine run on the coilpack from my car. So I thought I'd do a bit of a search on here about this, but didn't really find exactly what I was looking for. From what I can tell would it just need the end cap and cams changed over to convert it?? and also would the fact that this donor engine is now a 3 litre make any difference? any help or advice on this would be gratefully received, as I don't really wont to waste money on this if it would be better really to find a coilpack version engine instead Cheers, Doug
  15. I've been thinking about ordering some new center caps for my RH ZW1's and found a place in the US but they want $100 shipping fees  Anybody know of a distributor in Europe that does these? thanks
  16. I'll have one of these to if you've got any left. I'll send you the payment via paypal pm sent...
  17. here you go! Can you tell I'm not too busy at work today :-P
  18. Generally you have a separate part of your policy that covers windscreen damage, which wont effect your no claims. You have to pay the excess but from my experiences in the past it usually only comes to around £50 to £75 but as Phil K says every insurance company is different. (Check your insurance policy form it should say on it if covers windscreen damage) Hope this helps
