  1. I know how you feel mate, I also went from a Golf to the Corrado and those blind spots are nasty.

After one too many near misses I bit the bullet and put blind spot mirrors on both sides. The trick is to set them up and after a few goes, here's the one that worked for me. Go to somewhere like halfrauds and get the wedge shaped ones about 3/4" at the fat end and 1/4" at the thin end. I wouldn't hesitate to do both sides btw.

Stick the mirrors in the lower corner (bottom left drivers side, bottom right passenger side). Then what I did is adjust the mirror so that the blindspot mirror covers your view of the rear 3/4 of the car. I hope this makes sense, but it means your eyes can easily distinguish between the info from the blind spot mirror and info from the mirror itself.

Just to add that what this does for me is when a car coming up behind me starts off in the rear view mirror, it then overlaps slightly to the blind spot mirror and then overlaps again into view on the actual wing mirror - that way I never lose sight of the vehicle travelling through the blind spot.

Short of sticking caravan extensions on, I don't know what else could work

Hope this helps (I can take a pic if that would help).

  2. My current to do list includes getting a new throttle cable, replacing the rear spring packing, shortening the cat to exhaust connector pipe by 1", changing the handbrake dash bulb, determining why the coolant temp guage is undereading, getting a new clip for the rear bumper, finding out why cold starts have recently become really difficult and also trying to work out what this potentially suspension related noise is all about...

Probably about due a wheel alignment and my next plan is to upgrade the brakes to G60 fronts and Mk4 Golf rears...

...assuming something else more urgent doesn't turn up before then of course

  3. Hey peeps,

Recently had an interim service and MOT. Failed the MOT owing to too much play in the NSF top mount. Said mount was replaced and MOT passed.

The question - rather than the usual dull thump when going over nasty potloles and drains, that corner of the car seems to be making much more noise. It's not quite a bang or a crash, but it's a noise I'm not used to hearing...

Has someone made a boo-boo or have I just had the worn ones on for too long :?:

Also, should they have changed them both, seems a bit odd only doing the one side...

(front end control and turn-in is muchos improved though, so it's not all bad )

    Cheers,

    LvP.

  4. i think he ports and polishes the existing manifold and then puts larger diameter downpipes in thus keeping it standard looking with associated better flow to boot, send him a pm or someone who's had it done could advise

That's exactly it, just check his milltek thread for prices and stuff. I highly recommend this, particularly the custom down pipe, when compared to the original it is blatantly obvious how bad the standard one really is.

Given that I haven't touched the engine itself, just the flow out and air flow in, the results are a complete transformation. Mr. engine appears to be perfectly happy and in top shape so I'm loathed to go down the cam/piston route just yet...

    ...famous last words?

  5. Jimbob1970,

I've only had the air in and the exhaust out tweaked thus far (cold air feed & K&N, ported exhaust manifold, custom downpipe, Milltek CAT and exhaust).

It's probably relative, but I lost some low range power and gained buckets and buckets of mid & especially top (I kept bouncing off the limiter for the first day or so as the engine just kept pulling rather than dying at 6K like it used too  ). I seem to remember from the chat I had with JMR after the work he did, that better flow = better top end :?:

The only reason I'm mentioning all this is because at first, I could tell the car was very different but it was that much different in as far as driving it the way I used to meant I was actually going slower, the power bands had shifted that much - where I used to get maximum pull wasn't the case anymore. After some experimentation on my private test track to work in the morning, I found out where the power had shifted too (up the rev range basically), and it was only then I realised just how much better it actually was. I've had to adjust my gear change points and gear selection based on my speed, but the results are  inducing to say the least... and even more suprisingly (I thought) my MPG is up as well!

I will also add (in light of vr6storm's post) , that there was a definite run in period for me of about 1000 miles or so before I got the full effect...

Hope you can get things worked out soon,

  6. ...if you have a friendly neighbourhood Corrado owner, you could try swapping your ISV for their one to see if that makes any difference :?:

If the ISV is fubar'd then a new one is going to set you back about £100...

(assuming this is your problem of course)

  7. It's not one that 16VG60 has done,

...but it looks exactly like the one he did do ;)

(albeit slightly shorter so the tip of the blade is inside the black surround of the rear screen)

  8. is there a matching one you can get for the rear? 8)

...not without some modding, but it can be done.

JMR has fitted a Lupo driver side blade on mine by grafting it onto the original rear wiper arm. Looks very 8) and works a treat :thumbleft:

Can post a pic later if you like...

  9. Experience preferred, pictures a bonus, assume I'm an idiot... :cuckoo:

    Apply within

(If you care, I think I be mostly needing to replace the holder & washer that holds the side of the bumper to the car... #1/#2 on the ETKA diagram...)

    Cheers ;)

  10. ***NEWS FLASH***

According to a visitor to the office today, they went past it and reckon it is checking for Tax & Insurance. It clearly had DVLA on the side of the van & some thing about "Vehicle Licensing" on it too. Things are starting to look up!

Also another guy from the off went past it at about 115 after, he was 5hittin it more than me LOL!

  11. If you can get a secondhand door shell in the same colour as you're C, that one's the winner. Recently managed this one myself, £50 for the door and £100 to have it fitted (which included swapping everything over from the old door to the replacement).

Getting a different colour door painted up is probably going to be just as expensive as repair but may be preferable depending on the long term implications of the damage (I'm thinking rust). Try and get a quote for respraying a door and compare them?

Of course the other thing is that unless you're really lucky, you could be waiting forever to get one in the right colour...

I almost fainted when I saw how much a new door would cost (over £750 just for the shell )

Good luck with this one, hope you can get it sorted! :thumb right:
