  1. I bought my golf mk2 on ebay, it's a great car so i was happy with the deal. However, i don't think i would do it again without seeing the car first. As it's been said before, you don't have to buy it - who cares about neg feedback! The advert for my golf said it was in excellent condition, if it hadn't have been i would have pulled out & stated it was mis-represented in the ebay item description.
  2. Update: The first one (1996 VR6, £8495) disappeared off the auto trader site after a few days. I had arranged to look at the second one (1995 storm, £7200) at lunchtime. Just got a call saying that someone had phoned up & offered the full asking price, without even seeing the car & wanted to pay a deposit by credit card. i wasn't prepared to offer the full amount, so had to let it go :-( The search goes on. Rams, i understand what your saying about spending 5k & adding extras yourself. However, i guess i'm a bit of a traditionalist & want an original car. I wouldn't mind doing some tinkering under the bonnet to improve the performance, but would like the interior, etc to be as vw meant it. I'm in the berkshire area, if you hear of anything.
  3. Cheers Rams. I agree, if i go in with an offer close to the asking price, he's just going to split the difference. Flip side is that i don't want to miss out on the car i'm looking for for a few hundred quid! To add more confusion, the valuation sites on the web seems to differ drastically: For a 95/N storm @ 62,000: Parkers: 5400 whatcar: 7700 carsource: 4700 i'm not desperate to get one immedialtely (well, it would be ice to be driving one) so i'm prepared to hang on till the right one comes along, at the right price. i was following the thread for the vr6 in the cars for sale section. no interest shown for 7k. but io guess it's all about right place\right time!
  4. Had a look at the cars for sale section - it's not quite what i'm looking for. Ideally wanted Blue with leather. Being fussy, but i'd rather shell out for the car i want. Still not sure about the metallic purple colour??? Hopefully going to see the storm tonight\tomorrow. May go & see the other one, but leaning towards the storm. What do you think to the price of the storm?
  5. Hi, Finally decided it's time to grow up & trade in the mk2 golf for a Corrado! I want a late VR6 in top condition. Found these 2 on advertised. What do you guys think? 1) 1996 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 2.9 VR6 3dr Coupe 1996/N, 36000 miles, FVWSH, 1 previous owner, metallic purple, full grey Karmann leather interior, heated seats, Clifford Cat1 Alarm, Kenwood CD changer, 17" alloys, e/w/m/s/r/spoiler, computer, ABS, PAS, MOT & Tax, Absolutely mint condition. £8495. 2) 1995 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO 2.9 VR6 Storm 3dr Coupe Mystic Blue. Black Leather seats, Sunroof, ABS, Revolutiion BBS Alloy wheels, Clifford Cat I Full Close Anti Theft System, Alpine CD, New Tyres, Recently Serviced, 11 months MOT, 4 months Tax, A1 condition. 61500 miles. £7200. ---- £8500 is a little more than i had planned to spend (was looking around the 7-7.5k mark), but is #1 really worth this amount? Also, what's the difference in spec if you get a storm? Cheers, wG
