  1. If you go down M6 towards M1 , but when you get to M1 join the A14 , and stay on the A14 , you will pass across A1 ( this is where i will be coming off to join A14 ) .

There is a village that you come to , about 10 - 15 mins from the A1 called Lolworth and there is a little chef , i could meet you there if you like .

I have done the auto route from wrexham to the little chef and it says approx 2hrs 30min , this is near on the same time it will take me to get there from leeds .

  2. Thinking of going down A1 autoroute says it best way , will be setting off about 11:00 . think you would be best to cut across to A1 rather than up to leeds then back down again , could meet you on A1 somewhere !!

  3. Cheers kev , about 3 months ago i put some clear / red ones one the car to see what they looked like and was'nt inpressed , they looked to bling / in yer face , even though i do like chrome on black . So when i went to venom the other day and he pulled the smoked ones out , it was a yes without even trying them . The smoked ones seem to be better quality and dont look as cheap imo .

It took me about 2 hrs to fit them , with slight mod's here and there but well worth it .

  4. Your right there VR6 , especially to the bank balance - front panel £390 + vat , front bumper £330 + vat and that's just for starters . Then there's headlamp , grill ( 3rd one ) , wing , bonnet , paint / labour , :( .

  5. Here's one of the latest mods , one that wasnt planned . Looks like you jinxed me there Chris VR6nos by putting that picture on .

This is what happens when you meet someone's towing eye at low speed , skidding and waiting for the bang !! Never mind , will be fixed for GTI Inter .

  6. Thanks for the offer B-MAN but i need one by this weekend , the mota took a bad knock on the front end on sun (( bumper , front panel , wing , bonnet , headlamp , grill , etc )) and i need to get it sorted before inters (as its hopefully going on show) , even if i end up paying top prices from the dealer !!

  7. I have chance of a vr6 front bumper , is this any diffrent to a 16v one , also the fogs and indicators sit flush on the later shape bumper , (mine sit in about an inch ) i know the indicators are diffrent but will my fogs still fit ?

  8. ET35 and deffo 17" the tyre size you would need is 205/40r17 , if you go for the voodoo's make sure you get original's , smiths wheels or tsw bought wolfrace out ( i think ) and re-brought them out still as wolfrace but the alloy they use is very soft , if you end up lowering and hardening the suspension they will end up 50p shaped on the inside of the rim !!

The original one's were only made 4 or 5 stud i think NOT multifit as the new ones now are , so you may have to get some mint 2nd hand one's .

  9. I'd go with the exhauste manifold / manifold to downpipe gasket , the manifold may have come loose from the cy head , or the manifold to downpipe gasket maybe blowing . The downpipe may even have a crack in it , as GazzaG60 says if it was the tappets they would tap even when you let the power off !!

  10. Info incase thing's don't work out .

Ive got my 1.8L gearbox on a 2.0L golf mk3 bottom end so i think they are the same gearbox i.e no probs with the gear ratio , and the clutch splines are the same .

Not sure if the G60 is the same though .

  11. Sorry to hear the bad news , i thought it sounded like the diff had collapsed when i spoke to you last night , but you threw me abit when you said it was engine oil that was leaking out .

The gearbox in your c should be a cable gear change , but the gearbox in a mk2 golf is rod change , the mk3 golf had the cable change gearbox . Also you cannot fit an 8v gearbox as the splines in the center of the clutch plate are diffrent , also the 16v has a LSD ( limited slip diff ) and the 8v does'nt .

Hope you have some luck finding one .

  12. The chin spoiler is colour code'd black , the paint had a rubber addative in it to try and stop stone chips , and is working quite effective .

As for scraping , ive had no probs so far , just to be carefull where i go cause if the front scrapes - the skirts will too , some speed bump's dont seem to be a problem as yet . Ive even had to make a wood chock to drive onto - so i can get a jack under the car !! .

  13. Strange , if its engine oil the gearbox will be ok , the only way engine oil can get into the bell-housing is the crankshaft oil seal . But i cant understand the thump / shake / grinding noise.

Unless the clutch has broken up slightly and spun something into the oil seal causing it to leak .

What i was getting at before with the car vibrating is , my crankshaft broke on one of the web's near the clutch end , causing it to vibrate / leak oil into the bell housing . Even though it was broken the car was still able to be driven , untill i totally killed it !!
