this does look exactly like the recess trim off a mk3 golf boot lid shut, the bit you grab when the boot is open to pull it shut. Ive borrowed my dads over the weekend and it looks exactly the same as that part.

are those kits that set off smoke machines in your car legal? that could be a good way to go. I would have thought anything that happens to a theif or twoc'er when theyre inside a car that isnt theirs is legal?? knowing this country tho.....youd prob get longer in the slammer than them. -
can you match up anywhere in the car thats got a joint between the smooth and textured plastic? might help narrow it down a bit.

15 Gallon?? are there 2 diff sizes of f. tank on G60's? I cant seem to squeeze much over £40 in mine and that puts the needle past the 12 gallon marker. I average 25 mpg, but on days where i give it a blip every now and then gettin more like 20mpg. I went from leicester to Bradford and back with 4 ppl, bags and a tent and it cost me about £55. They aint economical by any standards but that isnt so bad. I can get it to do about 35mpg if i drive like a valiumed grandma

I heard a story somewhere that someone left one out over night under a maple tree and when they came out in the morning quite a few leaves had fallen on the bonnet. When they went to clear them off the leaves had left marks and impressions all over the body, think its aluminium? so they got a nice leaf motif delorean. Horrible car, but there are worse.... Mk1 ford focus saloon for example. :pukeright:

would the spoiler make much difference to fuel consumption on a long journey sat at 70mph? Would be nice if you could manually overide it at any speed. Would also be nice to have a 'one touch' up and down function aswell instead of holding the bleedin switch in for 3-4 seconds while driving. Its good for getting it half mast, but as stated it doesnt really go that far up in the air anyway!

bad news....looks like im getting a company car instead of cash. This means the rado will soon be up for sale......
-
yeah, they are saying that rather than give me car they would give me the salary increase equivalent as ppl on the same level as me in the company arent meant to have a company car. The route i had looked at is getting my own contract agreement car, but at the end of that, you still lose money and dont really have your own car. I really want to keep the rado and like you say, i may be better to get everything serviced often and to a better level than i am at the minute and run the G60 till it gives up the ghost. If i do that then i can always look for a replacement engine in the end anyway. I do like the idea of a TDi corrado, a GTTDi engine or something? had a go in a mates and it drove really nice. Im no mechanic and i need a car on the road all the while, so i cant really do an engine swap myself over time. for now i think i will take the money and maybe get the charger rebuilt and put a better intercooler/oil coller on it. Are the BBM chargers worth the money? Ive read that theyre more reliable. Maybe could go 16v head route aswell? Id like to tune it up with the extra money but i also want to make it a bit more reliable if i can. I do look after the engine as best i can and the major problems ive had have been electrical, but they should be all fixed now.

Ive been told that as part of work reviews i will be entitled to a company car. The latest news ive heard is that i could be getting the cash added on to my salary to get myself a car, but there are no restrictions on what i can get so long as i insure it for work purposes :D I was going to sell my G60 and choose something like a civic typeR, but if im getting cash instead then im toying with the idea of keeping the rado and spending some dosh on making it a bit more reliable. I cant see the G60 engine lasting long with the mileage id be doing for work as its got 134k on at the min. Can anyone recomend a fairly inexpensive engine swap, 1.8t maybe? and somewhere that could do a drive in drive out sort of thing? Its just an option im looking at but id love to have a company rado! Any comments wud be much appreciated. sam

If it were me Id refurb the wheels and not paint em white. Maybe be better to sell those and get some new whites? Nice car tho, Id maybe go for a black debadged grille aswell if it were me :D -
cool. Might see you around Derby 1 day then, have you got it on the road yet? I work near the train station and use my G' everyday.

I got a lindsey davies (?) one off the bay for a few quid. it covers fwd VW's up to 2002 so was good for my dads golf aswell. not as good as other manuals but alot of good info in there. Doesnt cover G60's though :(

I had loads of electrical probs 2 months ago. Almost everything just gave up at the same time and that was after id been through the car wash the day before. Had it all checked over and it was earth fault probs and inline fuses. I was stumped cos id checked all the ones in the dash. I wouldnt be able to tell you how to fix any though as i got a mechanic to do it. Not got the knowledge, time or patience for car electrics. Im guessing theres a logical sequence to test everything but i wudnt know where to begin.
