  1. I think best way to buy a Corrado or any older car like that is direct off the owner. Don't bother buying off specialists if you can help it.
  2. Oh dear, that sounds like a pretty bad experience. to be honest I just wanted to sell mine as it hadn't been driven for 3 years but was basically a good standard solid example. I'm hoping he didn't bodge anything on it before he sold it on, he's not updated his website for 6 months plus so my car never appeared on it.
  3. Oh no... typical used car salesman then ;-) Did he sell you a dog then? He gave me a fairly decent price for it considering it's market value and how much I personally would have to spend to MOT, Service and get it back on the road. I was just hoping it found another VW enthusiast to look after it, I ran out of time and it wasn't suitable as a daily driver any more with 2 little kids.
  4. I'm dragging up a really old post here so I'm hoping Storm Warning gets this message. I used to be active on here years ago & have just logged on to see if my old VR6 has reappeared when I saw this post. I owned Pearl Green Metallic VR6 K596 UVR from June 2002 right up to November 2014. Last 3 years it was in storage in the garage but still in good condition with 141k on it. I sold it to a Corrado Specialist in Derbyshire who was going to service, MOT and make it immaculate again, I haven't seen it back up for sale so I was just curious to see where it went. Glad to see Storm Warning still has a VR6!
  5. Cheers for the advice everyone. I might still return the part and see if I can find an original master cylinder from a breakers. With the luck I've had with Corrados this year I'll probably get sold the wrong type of Passat pedal to go with the wrong master cylinder
  6. Hi Everyone, Still having problems with my clutch master cylinder. The rebuilt one is failing so I went looking for a new one myself. VW still couldn't find one anywhere. I was told by Eurocar Parts that this was a VW Corrado VR6, they were 100% certain etc, just tried to have a look in the dark under the bonnet but I'm not convinced. Could anyone confim if this is in fact the right part before I waste another Saturday morning taking it to the garage only to be told that I've got the wrong part, then throwing it at the tool form ECP who assured me it was right. If it isn't the right part I'm still after one if anyone knows where I can get one Cheers Ady
  7. I'm not sure how much drain but they seem to think it's the door contol unit. The battery goes flat after about 3-4 days if the car is left. They tell me the control unit is for the electric windows and central locking, but they all work fine. I was going to take the door card off and have a look later and get the multimeter on it. Four garages have tried to find the battery drain and these are the only people that have supposedly found the fault.
  8. I think the garage certainly hates me and my Corrado after all the hassle they had trying to fix it. To be fair to them though, they did get it done and it works well now. I would have thought it was in VW's interests to keep Corrados running because having older good looking coupes on the road will enhance their reputation as a quality car maker. The garage also traced a battery drain to a n/s door control unit, that apparently controls the central locking and electric windows, but guess what, that part is obsolete as well now! Must be a bad earth or corroded connection because the central locking and windows work fine. fla looks like your in the right business then..... at some point quite a lot of people will be needing seals for deleted parts.
  9. Cheers KipVR I was going to suggest to the garage about Passat ones. They have managed to overhaul my old clutch master cylinder with new seals they got from a local engineering workshop. Might be worth bearing in mind if anyone has the same problem with the obsolete clutch master cylinder. Cheers Ady
  10. Cheers swiftkid It's at the main dealer in Loughborough and they say the seals have gone on it, but can't find a replacement, or a kit to replace the seals. I have been going to Stealth recently, but the car had a battery drain as well and Loughborough was nearer and easier to get home from for me. If you get a 2nd hand one you maybe getting another dodgy one, where did you get yours from? It's obviously a bit tricky to get 2nd hand parts these days, and I've been sold broken stuff off ebay before. Cheers Ady
  11. Hi everyone I need a clutch master cylinder for a 1992 VR6 but now the part is obsolete and the Golf VR6 one doesn't fit. Does anyone know a way to repair the exisitng one of find a suitable replacement. Cheers Ady
  12. After driving a VR6 for over 6 years I think the only thing I could possibly swap it for is a 911! I would like a C2 993 but they are far too pricey, so for around the £10k mark your looking at a 964 C2. I have driven various 1.8Ts in Seats, Golfs etc and although very nice cars, they aren't as much fun as a Corrado. The other day I drove my mates Mk5 R32 DSG, and although faster and better handling, not to mention newer and more comfortable, it didn't make me smile like the old Corrado does. It felt too much like a playstation game. I would still have one as an everyday car in 5 door for practicality, but could part with the Corrado.
  13. If you like war films watch 'The Brotherhood of War - Tae Guk Gi', a Korean film about the Korean War in the 1950's with English subtitles. It's probably one of the best war films I've ever seen. The battle scenes make the start of Saving Private Ryan look like The Sound of Music. Ady
  14. About a year ago there was a letter in the Telegraph to Honest John from a bloke looking for drive shafts for a 94 VR6 (if I remember rightly), but he was moaning about VW dealers and looking for enthuastic and independant help. Honest John recommeded he looked for the CCGB on the net, or other VW clubs, but did say the Corrado VR6 was one of his all time favourites. So I think perhaps he was complementing the Hyundai to a motoring legend :)
  15. I bought mine thinking it was dragon green, but when I checked the paint codes I found out it's pearl green metallic, which is more blue/turquois than dragon green. My dad has a Vauxhall Omega in aquamarine blue, and it's pretty hard to spot the difference in colours between the 2 cars when they are parked next to each other
