Knocking is more likely to be from the shocks or the exhaust - particularly if you know it's weak. The rear wheel bearings can be adjusted, five minute job. CV gator is a pain - fairly involved getting those on and off, unfortunately. :(

Any tiny misplacement there can effect the position of the rear wheels by more than you'd expect I suppose. Given that's the pivot point of a fairly long lever. It wouldn't be the twist, it would be the relative position of the two mounts I'd imagine.

Coxylaad that includes all the drivetrain losses, so gearbox, diffs, driveshafts, wheel bearings, dragging brakes, CV joints, etc etc. Actually one weird thing - do four-wheel dynos automatically link the speed of all four rollers? If not, the 4x4 system will always be active on a Synchro setup, cos otherwise the back wheels would slow down..

Are you suggesting that blokes with no mates need to buy non-return nipples, or are you suggesting that people who buy non-return nipples wind up with no mates?? :)

One thing I've noticed - the Schrick changes the sound of the VR6 subtlely. It loses that gruff, asynchronous sort of sound (which I loved!), probably a result of the unequal length runners, meaning the overall induction length is the same for each bank of cylinders, unlike the OE inlet.. Shame, but it's still worth every penny... :)

Yeah, I'm agreeing. It's just a tiny bit of a surprise when I was expecting £26ish for parts and it's going to be £40.. :|

Dunno where you get your BJs from Kev, current parts pricing says: £17.80 + VAT! GSF only want £9! Wonder if GPC can beat that for a genuine part..

But even if there's no drive going through the rear wheels, Phat, you're still having to turn all those extra drive shafts and stuff. You might be turning them by hauling the car along from the front, but they still represent drag on the rear wheels, don't they? *That* is why you still lose power, even if your 4wd is not full-time.

Yer joking? The Bentley says you should replace the guide pins every time you swap the calipers, how can they make you replace the whole carrier just to replace the guide pin???

This would be a bit of a liability at night! Full headlights on, heaters etc etc, you disconnect the alternator, what happens? Weak spark! Probably lose power as a result, not a great idea on the whole, IMHO.

power/weight suggests that the G60 will beat the R32, simply because they have similar power and the G60 is lighter, PLUS the R32 is carrying around all that 4x4 drive train. But that 4x4 drive train means the R32 will get off the line or out of a tight bend with MUCH more power on the ground than your FWD G60... Swings, meet roundabouts.

Overinflation usually results in less grip than normal, so no, I doubt that's your problem. (Bear in mind that if you have larger wheels than standard, you'll probably find that the tyre pressures from the book will be too low.) -

Is your car lowered? Did the rear brake load compensator valve get calibrated after the lowering? The C shouldn't be tail happy at all, but you have to be aware that this is a *balanced* car. If you pile into a corner fast and expect it to go round corners while you're braking hard you should expect to wind up facing the wrong way... Your Rover 214 would probably never lose it's back end, no matter how much provocation you gave it. -
If they're knackered replace them. You'll know, the engine moves quite a lot - check by putting the handbrake on and lifting the clutch gently in reverse gear. If the engine moves significantly it'll tell you which engine mount is shot.

I've heard people comment that VRs can be noisier if the oil level isn't 100%, that's why I mentioned it... I'm sure you're right though, as long as there's oil for the pump to pump pressure should be fine..!! :)

Coil pack vs dizzy. Hmmm. Coil pack is more expensive and possibly less reliable (anecdotal evidence suggests this), but offers very slightly better control of spark timing. Performance wise there's unlikely to be much difference, I think. Other than that, it's the best engine you can have in a Corrado, I'd say! ;) (Matt dons flame-proof suit to protect from supercharger assaults..)

Erm, open the bonnet and take a look... ;) L reg VR6: 2.9 litres, distributor, OBD1 connector. Not much other engine-level things ever changed in the corrado. The majority of the engine changes were reserved for the OBD2 units fitted to the golf from 96 onwards.
