  1. Jamie, i know you weren't sorry if my reply came across that way!

The strengthened gear set never materialised as stealth couldn't come up with more goods. Vince thought it was a bit overkill anyway!

Tiger - the car is properly quick from 30mph onwards. If i had racelogic traction control I'd probably launch it more but as it is i wanted an A/M road rocket, and nothing i have encountered has surpassed it yet. Highlight scalping being a V10 R8!

Mic - the journey of modding appealed more to me! Now I'm itching to tinker with something else :)

New pics added to the ebay ad! Like i said before, £8250 to CF members :)

  2. I believe just worn, it's a 20 year old car :) I usually (and some may say foolishly) just give my garage a 'blank cheque' approach to ensure the car gets serious love, the rear bearings were a bit loose, the tie rod ends weee siezed on and i think a CV was siezed onto a shaft if I remember correctly.

Just had a thought, if anyone had the inclination to do so and wanted to turbo their VR, they could effectively swap everything over and sell the rest. The interior would be worth a few bob as well as all the other standard breaking gubbins

I realise that may contradict what i said previously about too many being broken, but once it's out of my hands the new owner can do what they like!

  3. Yep, it's mine.

It was up for sale here a couple of months back a bit prematurely, turned out i needrd to replace a lot of drivetrain parts, followed by me enjoying it again and not being able to make my damn mind up!

It's a fantastic car, but most of the fun for me was the whole process of taking a standard car and turning it mental. I'd like to start another project eventually.

Anyway I'll honour the original ad price for any forum members, that way I know it'll go to a good home:)

    Nick

Oh and if it doesn't sell then I won't be that upset! Car is probably worth more in parts but too many Corrados have been broken as of late

  5. Project - BBS RS 16" 5x130 Staggered

Unfortunately I've decided to sell my BBS RS' as they won't clear my brakes. I've thought about changing my calipers but would involve too much arseache hence the incompleteness, but would be perfect for someone to get them set up how they would like.

They are disassembled at the moment and need 2 new dishes. I have 2No. 1.5" stainless dishes for it, brand new fixings and everything bar the centre caps have been refurbished and resprayed professionally.

They were taken from a Porsche hence the non VW PCD, so you'll need adapters if you plan on running them on your Corrado.

Once complete these would be show ready wheels, and unfortunately I'm already out of pocket with these even when I sell. They owe me near to ?1800 as is!

    To summarise:

    What you'll get:

    - 2No. 16x7J ET36 BBS RS 145

    - 2No. 16x9J ET49 BBS RS 146

    (PCD: 5x130)

    - All new stainless fixings

    - fully refurbished barrels, etc in BBS silver

    - 2No. 1.5" stainless dishes (note 2 are missing and I don't have the originals as they were ruined)

    - 4x centre caps (which need refurbing ideally but still good)

    Good points:

    - wheels bar dishes and centre caps fully refurbed and painted

    - 2No. stainless dishes

    - all new fixings

    Bad points:

    - requires 2x dishes

    - centre caps need to be refurbed ideally

    - It might just be my eyes, but the separate bit around the centre caps looks a bit of a different shade? Apparent to me in certain lights, but then again my eyes are buggered :)

Due to everything being disassembled and the risk of damage, I'd really prefer to have these wheels collected. I'm also willing to deliver them or meet halfway somewhere if diesel is covered (within reason - try me)

I'm putting them at ?925 ono, they owe me double that (I think that's a fair price? comments welcomed)

    Any questions let me know

    Nick

  6. Thanks guys, I am quite fond of my Breitling. Bristolbaron - awesome!

I am currently pining for this Submariner. It most likely isn't to everyone's taste, but I like it. Bit steep though and I just can't justify spending that much on a timepiece at the moment:

    other_201139039815.jpg

Wouldn't it go well with my rado? :camp:

My next realistic buy will probably be a Longines Retrograde though:

  7. Sorry for the delay in replying, forgot about this

Argg speeding awarness course , i had to do one a few months back

Boring as hell but it keeps the licence clean and insurance down

One thing that does pain me though is that you pay to do a driving awarness course and to keep points of your licence then when you renew your license they ask if you have done a course !! I assume this is so they can still hike your insurance up even though you have no extra points

Id remember to tell them you havent had and dealings with anything Speeding based when you renew mate

Luckily I didn't have to attend any kind of course, it is some new scheme they have rolled out down this way where they will just give you a written warning that if they catch you again you will definitely get done. Can't be fairer than that really, I was driving like an idiot although it didn't help that the copper looked like he wanted to play! What's annoying is that my friend got stopped by the same car a couple of months prior and warned me about that particular stretch of road and an unmarked BMW. I only twigged a nanosecond before he turned on his blue lights :(

I think some unmarked coppers try and goad people into flooring it, then stick the blues on. Next time, look carefully at what he's wearing before issuing the full steam ahead command down to the boiler room.

You can usually see their bulky police gear and an extra aerial or two.

Similar thing happened to me in 2010. I got impatient waiting for some dithering tool doing 40mph on the slip road, so I over took him on the chevrons and then proceeded to blast up the outside lane carriageway, grumping to myself about dithering zombies. And then I noticed some flashing blues behind. Arse! They were OK actually and joked that they gave up trying to keep up with me at 95mph  They were in a Volvo T5R patrol car. They gave me a choice of a TS10 (white line offense) or an SP70 (IIRC, speeding offense), so I took the lesser of the two! Nice blokes.

They were only interested in the corrado from a; "It's a tiny car, you want to be careful you don't drive under a truck in it" perspective, lol.

The Corrado is now a really tiny car, so I can see where they are coming from. Having seen badly crashed Corrado pictures in the past, it doesn't fill me with confidence. The most annoying thing now, especially that I'm running a bit lower is that I get dazzled in my mirrors by most big cars/vans on the road, and with these LED lights it is even worse! By the way, love your new motor!

I wouldn't withhold any info to the insurance co as should the worse happen this is a £10K+ car at current prices?

I declare everything, and if anyone wants to give me £10k for the car then I may well take it

Works out at 195,088 people a year not that badly hurt in a traffic accidents, i think that's only an 8% chance of being seriously hurt or dead if in an accident.

32 million cars on the road today, so less than a 1% chance your going to crash.

    I like those odds!

    ---

Back on to the car, Jon @ Stealth text me this :norty:

    IMG-20141002-WA0004_zpsiizak0xg.jpg

Now I'm not 100% sure if this pic is for mine or his (we have ordered together to save on costs) but what I can tell you is that they are strong, straight cut, from the continent, and according to Jon will be "loud as f**k"

    Updates to follow...

  8. cool & the gang thanks muchly! that would be mint :D

how you finding it in the damp conditions?

& no more goading received by local blue flashers i hope!!??

Drove it the other morning when damp and noticed I was spinning it up in every gear - had a look outside and noticed my front tyres are in desperate need of replacing... I was in "normal tyre wear" mode so a bit of complacency on my part  But usually I can enough power down from a rolling boost to disappear into the distance

No more rozzers, I'm more careful now :) What's annoying though is that my commute on the M25 is riddled with speed cameras so I don't get much of a chance to open it up as much as I'd like. Luckily the M40 to Stealth is pretty good and I'm due a service soon :norty:

Unless you're talking about the other blue flashers, in which case I welcome the goading :camp:

  9. I'm liking that steering wheel, I keep wearing through the leather on mine so always nice to see what good alternatives are about.

Hope you're enjoying the turbo in this weather - I decided to take my Corrado to work this morning to blow the cobwebs out and it was wheel spinningly fun

  10. Luckily the copper was alone and seemed quite interested in the car

I was driving normally down a dual carriageway when I saw a grey BMW 530D Touring come up behind me at a fairly fast pace. Thinking he wanted to try and bully me out of the lane, I decided to shift down and boot it off so he was a spec in my rear view mirror - then the blues started flashing through the grille... oops!

All I could do was hold my hands up (not literally), apologising and saying I was just having a bit too much fun on a fast road. Couldn't deny that I wasn't driving like a berk. Aside from the safety spiel and speed limits, he asked to see what I had under my bonnet and asked what top speed I've had out of the car (like I was going to tell him!). Commented on its condition and said that next time I'll get done. Very lucky to have not been prosecuted, and I'll be more careful in the future. I think that if he wasn't alone I would have definitely had some points on my license.

Funnily enough yesterday I saw an unmarked little Kia hatchback pull over a different car. Seems that they are using a wider variety of motors these days in South London/Surrey.
