  1. Hi team,

does anyone know where I can find detailed geometric dimensions for the front end of the corrado? Minimum I need (looking straight on at front of car):

Track width (from centre contact patch to centre contact patch NOT rack length or distance between hubs!),

vertical distance from floor/tyre contact patch to lower wishbone,

vertical distance from floor/tyre contact patch to damper bolt holes on hub (can get these from a detailed schematic of hub otherwise using above),

full length of damper unit (mounted NOT free length),

angle at which the damper is offset from vertical in standard setup,

angle between top mounts (centre of top mounts ideally)

some of that can be extrapolated using maths, but if anyone has any digital schematics I would really appreciate them!

    Cheers,

    Jon.

  2. So, my 2nd year is over and it's time to get another crappy temp job before going overseas (possibly) for my placement.

Hopefully will get the bearings and discs on this week, although I've lost all my guide pins for the calipers :bad-words: so look out for a WANTED post soon!

    Updates as and when :salute:

p.s. check out my design coursework teaser:

  3. Feel free to look at my resto thread - i'm finishing my rear beam replacement as we speak.

I wouldn't ever use 4 axle stands, leave two wheels down on the ground and use 2 axle stands. I guess 4 stands is ok if you're just storing it but IMHO very dodgy for working underneath.

Also, some local authoritues get well funny about working on cars on the road especially something as major as rear axle removal! One of my neighbours got told off by the police for washing his car on the street! :cuckoo:

  4. The KR won't have come with a cat as it was produced before catalytic converter legislation, power output is the right ballpark though depending on headwork spec and cam spec.

  5. After being parked up for 6 months the G60 repaid the favour by shredding its passenger side outer CV boot. Got that changed this morning and it took longer to clean all the gunk out of the wheel arch and the back of the hub carrier.

All sorted now, although I did manage to shear a half inch extension drive while trying to undo the hub nut.

Still waiting on the new project parts for it, should help keep the oil temps down a bit.

I sheared a 1/2" extension undoing the hub nut to change my CV too! Spooky.

Glad to see this coming along though, didn't realise Old Yella had been off the road so long.

  6. yeah, as everyone else said really.

I had a Jetta 8v for a bit when Prodigal got his G60 and cosmetically they're pretty similar but definitely a lot to be changed over.

There might even be things you haven't thought about like the cylinder liners not being rated for excess pressure, so may be thinner than in a G60 block. Those kind of things.

  7. Maths is right DW, go to the head of the class!

If you've got a 15" rim, you'll get 1.06 degrees at 7mm offset. If you've got a 16" rim, you'll get 0.99 degrees with the same upper offset of 7mm.

    I'm taking 1" = 25.2 mm.... Think it might be 25.4 but that's what I used!

This is exactly how some of the CamberSmart readers work: you zero them on a flat surface, then measure but they're just a set square with two nails on and a calculator in the middle really!

Good to see some maths being applied  :dorky:
