  1. I have finally acknowledged that I won’t ever be revisiting my passion for modern classic vehicles and therefore have decided to sell my awesome Alpine CDA-9812RR headunit with KCA-420i iPod interface. This period appropriate high end head unit has a perfect appearance for a Corrado with the added benefit of tilt facia and blackout display. So many high end features but it’s 60x4 power mp3 and iPod connection means it works perfectly stand alone or with a bigger system. Superb condition £100

    Thanks for looking

  2. Well keeping it tucked up and safe has served you well, I wouldn't be surprised if it's doubled in value since it last saw the road

I've lots of new pictures since my last post ( days at the beach, record collecting, etc etc ). Sadly none of them are Corrado related !

Your post ( and I thank you for it ) has reminded me that I have unfinished business.

So last week, I decided to peel the clammy bedsheets from the fuel cell. From whence it was set aloft the dear old girl. Drop some restored energy in to old parts, to peruse Vagcat for new trinkets. And see where it takes us.

I've been away from the old girl for far too long. And I miss her.

    Viva le VR6.

  3. Get a striker conversion from Germany, superb quality solution and you retain the original locks. Best of both worlds

  5. the wheels have obviously widened, if they were the original size assuming rs301 they would be 7.5x17 et33. This size is tried and tested on the vr6. If your shell is good i would not touch the arches and would suggest narrower dishes with 205/40/17 tyres.

Hi Tan.I agree with Zak, I dont know how much wider your new rear dishes are but starting with ET 33 on a 7.5 the tyre size 205/40 fit perfect with no issues, to work out et divide by 2 any additional mm in width and subtract that number from 33. Thats academic though as with the new wider dishes you are catching the arches, cheapest option is refit 205/40s and see how you get on, or replace stock 0.5 dish?

  6. Regarding the selling with no road tax, surely until the seller notifies DVLA, sends in the V5, the car will still in their eyes be taxed, so the buyer will have a few days to sort the tax out, same regarding insurance, you should still be able to call from the sellers premises and insure the car because at that point it will still be taxed by the seller

Please correct me if I'm talking crap... which I'm sure you will

    That sounds logical

  7. Just used the 12 month direct debit option for the first time to start 01/11. On a BMW with an annual rate of £180 there is an additional charge of £9 per annum or 75p a month (5%)a good deal as far as I'm concerned as I now need only budget for payments of £15.75 a month rather than a one off hit and if I don't trust the DVLA to stop the payments when I sell the car I can certainly cancel the DD myself.

  8. A big step forward towards what? Previously, the remaining tax for that car was part of the purchase so was therefore linked to the new owner, so what has changed? The only reason I can think of where it would be important is if they have something in mind to help combat those who avoid paying... a way to link owners with tax payers. I don't see how this will help currently - in fact, if someone doesn't intend to pay, then it just means the car has no tax from the moment they buy it. Unless the software is already in place to track owners v payers?

Monthly DD is convenient for those who wish to spread the payment over more than 6 months, so yes, of course I can see the benefit for those people.

No tax disc in the window definitely cleans up the look of the car, but I'm pretty sure that for most motorists, the only day they'll care is the day they don't have to put the new disc in the screen...

That said, I do think the new method is better. I'm just naturally cynical of any new scheme where it appears that the populous is paying more (especially when things are being paid twice) and the beneficiaries are government/agency/authority, esp. if it involves motorists!

It will help measures to identify cars without road tax, at present you could buy a car with 12 months tax and run it unregistered and no doubt uninsured etc. With ANPR systems identifying the 'offenders' the cars can be taken off the road and keep more uninsured drivers off the road

  9. I'm astonished by much of the negativity around this. The convenience of monthly direct debit payments with less added premium than was applied when buying 6 months previously. No tax disc in the window and of course not having to ensure your car has plenty of tax on it still to satisfy a potential buyer. The new system ensures the tax is immediately linked to the owner/user which is a big step forward.

The talk of refund applying to full months only is the same as ever albeit at the point of sale there will be a crossover period. It may impact on car dealers more but I'm not about to start feeling overly sorry for them.

  10. To fit Passat handles you need to use the Pasat door mech too. However a more elegant solution which allows you to retain the Corrado lock mech is to replace the striker with a better designed stronger bespoke part, I sourced mine from German eBay they are a first class solution giving smooth reliable use with non of the frailty of the original part.

  11. Hi goldf1ng3r,

Thank you for your complimentry response to rorgasm's great one liner. However, I dont know whether you have got some crossed wires or confusion going on? But whilst i wish to cause no offense, I feel the need to correct you on an issue of ownership regarding my Corrado. I have owned my G60 since it was two years old. It has only ever been owned by one other who purchased it as a new vehicle from VW Audi Dealer Dovercourt in 1991. I feel you must be confusing my Corrado with another you have seen, as it has never been owned by someone in Jersey, let alone been there. Furthermore, the only person responsible for any of its modifications is myself. I must say however i'm now intrigued as to which Corrado you have mistaken mine for :).

    regards, John

Adjacent thread was the VR Turbo Storm built in Jersy I suspect a simple error responding to the thread, not the car

  12. Why bother posting if it isn't something that interests you?

Agree 100% with Mark, Rado20VT and Clumpy - I think a well executed smooth bay can be a real work of art. If I had the cash mine would be as smooth as a baby's bum

It does interest me, the cost of smoothing properly together with associated work is equal to or greater than the value of the vast majority of Corrados , the vast majority could use the money well spent elsewhere rather than custom smoothing the bay.
