  1. Hello Chaps, Im a little comfused on exhausts and need some advice regarding what to get myself. I have a MoT coming up and I am pretty sure that my exhaust has a hole in it somewhere, Im going to jack it up later tonight when I am home to see if I can spot the problem! Anyway, I have been looking on lots of different threads for ideas on which make to go for etc and am a little confused about CATS. Magnex exhausts seem nice, I found this "complete system" http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_ ... ry=Exhaust But would that have a CAT in, as apparantly as mine is a 1989 kr 1.8 16v, I dont need a cat? So is it best to buy the parts seperately? Any help would be appreciated, as Im a newb who needs answers! Cheers, Tom
  2. Hello there chaps, So the other day I had a fuel leak, turns out it was the feed into the engine bay, as someone had replaced the pipe and just stuck a jubilee clip on (not me) so I have it secure now with 2 x fuel line clips. Anyway, tonight when I was going for a short drive, noticed a few drips of oil (nothing to get too worried about) I think there coming from the oil cooler direction. Anyway I got home and was sitting on the drive, and I notice the engine was very "jerky" and there seemed to be a misfire, except im not mechanically minded so Im not sure. So being non mechanically minded I got my phone out to take some vids, to see if anyone has any tips for where I should look tomorrow?
  3. well had more of a luck today and I put the car up on stands and started it. Didnt start but fuel was coming from the direction of the hoses with the isolation around them. I have done some searches and it looks like the most sensible place to start is replace the blue and the black hoses. Now I think I have traced them from the pump to ontop of the air box (well just before, as they change to black rubber?) Now all I need to no is how can I take the air box off? I cant seem to work it out as it looks tricky due to the mass of pipes attached to the top of the filter/air box? Any tips would be most appreciated!

    Fuel Leak

So tonight I drive out of my close and the car stops at the end of it. I start her up again but she stops instantly, look in my rear view mirror and see a trail of fuel! It appeared to be guzzling out of under the engine, have not had a chance to had a look closely though yet. Pushed it back home and plan on looking tomorrow, any common problems on the 16v's? Seems to definitly be coming from the engine area, but couldnt see anything from the top.
  5. Hello there, yes I did sort this problem out, I think its the same pipe, around 3 inches(ish) long. Part number 068 121 063M.. I got it from VW for £9.50 in the end. one end of the pipe is bigger than the other. Cheers
  6. okay finally worked it out with my bootleg copy of ETKA, part number 068 121 063M so the damage wont be as bad. Its only a very small peice of hose so may attempt to make my own replacement, as I think VW would want around a tenner Money money money, :(
  7. Quite correct, I have been searching around today as when I went to vag they wanted nearly £50 for the pipe I needed. I think its part number 027 121 053B which I need but I cant be sure. I found a past post and it seems to tally up. GSF have it for £30 so going to go for that one i think, this is the pipe which has gone is the one that runs from the waterpump to the flange on the front of the head and has a T piece in it to feed the oil cooler. Does anyone have the part number for the pipe from the bottom of the Rad to the water pump? AS that will need doing to.
  8. Okay quick update, as more help needed now! So I ordered the parts above and arrived no problem, booked it in with a friend to do the work on Monday. So I thought today I would top the coolant up a bit and then get the car nice and hot to see if their are any more obvious leaks. I was sure in for a suprise. I think the pump may be okay as while I was checking stuff out a pipe pretty much split and made quite a mess. What I need to no is where can I get replacements from (im a complete car novice really). There is a pipe with comes from the bottom of the rad to the pump, which has been leaked all over my the very hot water, so will need replacing and the pipe which has split is just above it, can i go to VAG and get replacements or is their an easier way? Also temp gage not working, where is the sensor, as I could get a new one of them to. What is the best coolant to put in VW's? Thanks, hope someone can help!
  9. 2009_02090021.JPG[/attachment:1os0ftn5] This is the photo of the area which I think the leak is coming from. Which bit is the plastic inlet elbow?
  10. Hello, So I have been driving the corrado for just over a week and already have a problem! Coolant is leaking at quite a rate out the bottom. I think I have isolated it to the water pump (left side engine near belts) as there are drips coming from there! Anyway, I did a little search on here earlier saying to go to ECP, just wondering which bits I will definitly needs? When I go onto their website there are a mixture of water pumps.... This is what I have and think I need from the posts... also any tips? 201440115 WATERPUMP COMPLETE VW & AUDI 1.6/1.8 82-- £25.50 £25.50 369440050 WATER PUMP SEAL GO/JE/VE/SC/PA/SA/A80/A100 £0.86 £1.72 209440040 THERMOSTAT GO/JE/VE/SC/PA/SA/A80/A100 £3.80 £3.80 Cheers Forgot to metion I have a 1989 16v :)
  11. Sorted, definitly was the head unit, nipped down to halfords and got a new ISO for another head unit and worked no problem! So for anyone in future, just get a new head unit!!!
  12. Yes I checked the fuse in the back as well :(
  13. Hello chaps, Im having some issues with a head unit and sound. I will try and be as clear as possible but im an absolute novice when it comes to speakers and sound! Okay so I got the car last year with no head unit in it but wires, speakers on the back parcel shelf. So anyway recently started driving her and its been great, and I have now decided its time to get the head unit sorted out. Anyway my Mrs had one quicking around from an old 205 which she used to drive. And we knew it was working when she had it in her car, but this was like 4 years ago! So I buy an ISO lead off of Ebay and it slots in great, and the CD player powers up but no sound, so Im like hmmm, odd. Then a few seconds later there are sparks from the wires and somthing is shorting out. So I unplug everything and make it safe and take a closer look at the wires. It appears that they all go into "one of those things" cant think of what they are called (the wire goes in oneside to a plastic mount and you screw down and then a wire is on the other side and you screw that end in)... Anyway the wire wasnt in very well and it was shorting out on the metal mount which much have been filled with something negative. So It still didnt work after the blue sparks were fixed, so I checked Fuse 22 (on the off chance) and that was fine. So I then got a wire diagram off of here and the wires corresponded fine to where the speakers were located in the car and all the wires ended up at the front and were wired up to a standard Male ISO. I have checked the speakers are not blown by using a AA battery and they all make a noice when doing the check (I found this check via a google post) So I am just basically a little lost to what to do next. It is possible that the head unit has had it but I would have thought there we a little whisper of sound from it? So the next plan is to get another ISO lead for another head unit which is quicking around to see if I get sound from that one. Was just wondering whether anyone had any ideas what could be wrong? Anything else I could check? Thanks for reading this very long post! Cheers, Tom :confused4:
