  1. Agree, used a super cheap broker when I first started driving and almost got stung when I got hit by a drunk driver. Lucky for me my brother works for a broker and ran them so ragged they paid up but I thought I was going to get nothing. I used Brentacre this year and I have to say the were excellent. Get on to Gary there for a quote, really good lad and owns a mk2 golf so a proper enthusiast.[/quote:135gedrv] Spoke to him this morning. I've been with them the last two years but thought I could get a better quote as my renewal was only £60 off last years premium and in that time ive turned 25, lost my SP30(over 5 years now) and also gained a 2nd years NCB.. I'll most likely be going back to brentacre though. Flux couldnt quote me, excuse used was they have lost a lot of their modified underwriters.
  2. Cheers chaps, I agree it could have been much worse! Ben-B they took the whole payment on the 28th June, I presume they will just refund what I havnt used but now I have to find another insurer pretty quick.. Re the mods they admit that I declared them because they have the call recordings (they searched for them to confirm I wasnt in the wrong). This is exactly why I caught them out because I wanted every mod declared on my policy, which they then tried to hike up the price for. I knew it was too good to be true (coming in £60 less than any other place I tried and I tried ALOT) but hey ho I know for the future..
  3. I'd like to apologise in advance if this sounds like a major rant but its also a colossal warning for all of you who may prospectively be looking at MCE Insurance (underwritten by Chaucer). On the 28th June I accepted a quote (over the phone) from MCE Insurance whereby they offered me what I wanted (covering all mods) for £591. A week went by and I received my policy documents which were wrong. They had the incorrect mileage listed (12k instead of 120k), they had agreed value set to NO (instead of YES) and they had ignored all the modifications even though I explicitly told them about them! I rang them immediately and told them to change the docs and get them back to me. At which point the asked me for 6 pictures of the car (for agreed valuation) and a list of the mods to put on the document. I said thats fine and sent them to them the very same day. A few days went by and I had heard nothing so I chased and was promised a call back. Never received one. Another few days went by and I still hadnt got a call back so I chased and was told it was in the pipeline. 2 days before my policy date I rang again, still waiting. Each day up to and including my policy date I rang and they told me the underwriters were still dealing with the issue but that I was 100% covered including mods as I had declared them over the phone. I left it for a week or two after my policy had started as I expected them to call but still nothing so eventually I rang them to ask what the hell was going on. I was told that my policy was incorrect and that I would have to pay an additional £250 if I wanted to keep it to cover the modifications. Of course I was infuriated by this as I clearly stated I had the mods in the first place. I complained and they said they would call me back. I called again to complain and was told I'd get a call back. A week went by no call back so I called them, was transferred to about 8 people before eventually getting the customer care team who said they would look into it for me and call me back. I took the policy out on June 28th and it was scheduled to start on the 13th of July (adequate time I feel to get it in order). Only today 05/08/10 have I received a call back to say "Yes you did declare your mods but we cant cover you because of them. You will have to pay £45 for the cover you have had since the policy started and we will cancel it for you." Naturally I am not best pleased. I now have to ring around the houses once again to get a good quote. Cancel this policy and take out another. The whole ordeal has cost me time, money (calling them non-stop), loss of lots of hair and a rather huge wariness about driving my beloved Rocco. All I can say is I shall be blackballing this company to as many people as I can and potentially taking this issue to the FSA / a financial ombudsman. Searching on google I've found im not the only person who has experienced such service from this "insurance broker" and as such I warn all of you to STAY AWAY in your best interests! I will be calling Brentacre tomorrow to try and get a goodish price and have a years care free motoring with a good insurance provider (hopefully). Rant over, apologies once again.
  4. Bump could anyone help me with the measurement - width of the tailgate window (top) for me so I can see if it will fit on my scirocco?

  6. Can anybody help me with the dimensions .. I cant find anyone nearby who has a Corrado to measure their rear windscreen width ..
  7. Hi all, I'm new to the site, sorry if I've placed this thread in the wrong section. I'm actually a VW Scirocco MK2 owner but have been on the look out for a roof spoiler for my car and found this : http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog/pr ... 1543&add=1 The company unfortunately does not have the dimensions for this product so I was hoping for some info here... Does anyone have one of these spoilers? If not, could someone measure the width of the tailgate window for me so I can see if it will fit on my scirocco? Appreciate any help you guys can offer :D many thanks in advance...
