  1. I have a mk1 Golf with a G60 Rallye engine Symptoms: A clicking or rasping noise coming from the engine bay area. The noise happens when the car is in motion and increases in frequency, as in it happens more often, as the car accelerates and gets louder as the car gets hotter. Fault investigation: Knowing I've had a pretty shagged exhaust for a while I found a hole in it, so changed it for a nice powerflow one. However, the symptoms are still apparent. My car was coming up to a 10 000 mile service, believing the noise might be a pressure control valve from a clogged filter I changed the oil, oil filter and fuel filter. Symptoms still apparent. My car has been over fuelling, so I thought I was in no danger of pinking, but a friend of mine said that was not the case. I removed one of spark plugs to get it replaced. It was a NGK BP7EVX, and it was caked in oil and the end was black and looked burnt. IS THIS NORMAL? The NGK spark plug is platinum, which is what the engine requires, but has a gap pf 0.8mm but the Bentley Manual for the Corrado G60 engine suggests a gap of 0.6-0.7mm. So I've ordered some W6DPO, as the manual recommends, at over the odds prices. I'm obviously a little concerned about oil in cylinders and would appreciate all advice with what I can do.
  2. Thanks for your assisstance John. Your number is safely stored in my phone for a time when I will no doubt need your a help. Another question has sprung to mind. There are two trails of thought on which direction to come form in constructing the 16vG60. The two options seem to be either start with the G60 block and add the KR 16v head or vice versa. But could you just fabricate a 9A block and head with the neccessary G60 donor parts. Then have a 2.0 litre block instead of just 1.8?
  3. Wow! Now that's a rapid response. Thanks for the clarification John! Don't suppose you've got any to hand?
  4. Apparently the intake manifold for this conversion should come from the 16v Scirocco engine. But this engine in Europe was the KR code which is quite common in the Golf and Corrado. So why would the intake manifold differ so significantly on the Scirocco that this conversion specifically stipulates that this one is used?
  5. Hi In the picture below you'll notice a pipe which comes out of the right hand side of the supercharger and bends down towards the bottom of the engine bay. I'm trying to buy one of these. I emailed a chap on the internet and he said the only thing that came off of his supercharger was a black two piece casing....does anybody know what he means? http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt21 ... 6. Not sure, apparently there's a flange attached to the back of the g60. So I guess it might be one of those. Are they the only ones?
  7. Hey all, Bit of a wierd request this, but would somebody be so kind as to post a picture of the flange that's attached to the G60 supercharger in the corrado and tell me what it does. Thanks for your help.
  8. Hi Does anyone have any experience with alternative superchargers to the G60. I know rotrex and Lysholm do superchargers but have they ever been fitted to the 1h or pg engine? Thanks
  9. Hi My G60 needs a bit of a rebuild. I was wondering if anyone had done this before and what kits they had bought. There's this on on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Volkswagen-VW-Cor ... 286.c0.m14 It seems good value for money. Jabbasport do this one: http://www.jabbasport.com/store/index.p ... =G-LADER37 It has a few extra things like a circlip; sealant; grease etc. But the price seems really steep for £70 more than the other. SO is it really worth the extra cash? If I got the cheaper one where could i source those extra parts? Thanks
  10. 1. High oil pressure switch, black, 1.4 bar part number ( OEM part number: 068-919-081 / 068919081 2. Low oil pressure switch, brown, 0.3 bar part number. You want this replacement. It's a 0.25 bar sensor, it stops the idiot light coming on intermitantley 028919081D 3. Blue coolant temp sensor part number. 025 906 041 A 4. Black coolant temp sensor part number. 357 919 369 F 5. The Bentley manual is for the US AAA coded engine and not the rest-of-world ABV, so this could possibly be one of a few differences. I hope this information helps
