  1. or just get the 7k ones and pretend that's all you're doing ;D I HEAR THEY REDUCE ENGINE WEAR THAT WAY
  2. That would be pretty shite! Especially for those Storms and all that getting scrapped. Essentially saying "Let's make it a Category A write off, to piss people off and drive them into scrapping their car because no spare parts are available, thus more eco friendly cars on the road, and more money out of the tax payers pocket!" Edit: Just read dragons post, that's good at least they can be broken. More spare parts for us! ;D The above was just a "what if" stance I think if they were to just sit down and think about the whole scrappage thing, they'd think "Oh, bugger, we've just spent all of our tax payers money! Looks like we'll have to close down schools and hospitals etc, but at least everyone gets to drive around in nice shiny new cars AND be in debt!" Gr.
  3. Hm see I don't feel or hear the clicking, only the sharp click type thing that also feels like the pedal moves down half a cm, yeah. I hear the click of the ABS relays behind the glove box, because i have it all out at the moment so it's easy to get at. I replaced the fuses anyway because one of them just crumbled up when I took it out. I will have to get another pair of hands to see if the unit does anything when I start up or what not. And... I still don't feel anything with the ABS on my golf ;D Perhaps the corrado is fine and it's actually just the golf playing up... hah...
  4. I'd get one of each whilst you can  I was quoted £1400 for the ABS ECU and i hear the Pumps are a good grand too. I honestly cant see why they cost that much![/quote:2wf1vpl9] I know right! I'd much rather just... live without ABS than have to pay the best part of £2500 to repair it. or just sell the car and buy a storm with it or something :D That is new from the dealers though right? Second hand (As long as it's working) are pretty fairly priced.
  5. Ah right. I am sure my Golf doesn't? I mean without starting the engine :/ Unless I'm completely barking up the wrong tree :D
  6. Yeah man. Though it seems to be a pretty common thing, though on a car the age of the corrado there's gonna be things that just... wear out (ie. sunroof) But I see there's a lot of ABS pumps and ECUs on ebay for about £30 each, supposedly in good working order so, hopefully if it is serious, it wont be too expensive to fix!
  7. Yeah. Though last time I used it on a laptop running XP Mine runs Windows 7 and it's a pain in the ass trying to get VAG-COM running, at least the old (cheap) one! Do you think it'd work running it under a Virtual PC?
  8. Yeah. I find it strange how they only tend to work in one USB port. But I will persevere! oh and having to change the latency and all that, etc. I have a lot of days off work and nothing to do, i'm sure I'll figure it out in the end, either that or kill myself with stress :D
  9. Also, critical mass, I love your signature. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is an amazing movie!! :camp:
  10. Oops accidentally deleted post instead of edit lol... Anyway, cheers Shaun! At least I know I wasn't missing something (except the light, of course) And I am assuming the one I just bought off you has the same connector I've ordered some cheapo VAG-COM leads off ebay and the 2+2 connector adaptor thingy seeing as the rado isn't young enough for the nice connector Hopefully this will shine some light on why my ABS doesn't work (pun not intended) Also though if I turn on the ignition with my foot pressed down on the brake pedal, I feel this sharp sort of click. So I reckon it must be doing something? However in the midst of my spending spree I bought a new sub and some amps for the corrado =[ After finding out my current sub wouldn't fit in it, i swore to myself to not go down that road again... evidently, I lied to myself. Still, it's not all bad. At least I have you guys here to guide me through these tough times ahaha. Who needs ABS anyway?! I crash enough on ice as it is.
  11. Sounds like it's time to start a petition or something! I'm sure you could probably find that many eventually. They are very nice.
  12. But this makes it red ;D and uh, I dunno. just because when I took the lcd out, I was afraid of pulling those little rubber contacts off!
  13. When I have the money available I probably will. Of course I'd have to get the bezels and lcd reversal kit. So it'll be like.. £150 or so? Crazy. One day, but there is (according to DDI) no reason why they would not work :)
  14. HI GUYS I'm back again with yet another question/problem. This time with a photograph! Anyway, it has come to my attention I do not have an ABS light (/switch?) I am lead to believe this goes above the fog lights and heated rear windscreen switches? Well, mine has a blank switch chappy here instead, and there's the 5 pin connector sitting in behind it. So I am assuming my ABS does not work, however I'd like to at least get the warning light back so I can start trying to at least fix the ABS. And whatever mysteries the other 3 wires hold ? Is it some traction control switch or something? I am told the 2.0 16vs came with that but... Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated! Cheerz! Ben.
  15. I sent them an email today, Quite nice of them to reply on a saturday actually but what I got was So I am assuming then seeing as the 2.0 16v tachometer only goes up to 7000 rpm then it would work. Well, i say assuming. This is what the man said, so it must be factual :) Fuckin yeah! And I was starting to think I couldn't get them. I'll have to order and report back to you guys though :)
  16. oh really? That's awesome :D Unlucky for you 1.8 guys though =[ But that's what you get for having an engine slightly better than ours! hah
  17. That would probably be a good idea actually...
  18. Hmm, this interests me. However I have searched before I made this post and found nothing :/ Just a lot of people saying you can't get them etc
  19. Evidently I do not know what is involved with switching to the DDI gauges, all I know is they look very nice :) And I apologise if this has been posted before, and if it has, feel free to delete this! I know DDI do not make them for 16v, only G60 and VR6, but is it possible/practical to just... swap them over onto my 16v cluster? Or is it just to do with the different redlines they all have? Forgive me if I am being ignorant! Cheers! :D
  20. rofl. Slap me for not trying that before wasting you guys time and posting! Whipped off the distributor cap and there's a good 30-50ml of water in there... will let it dry and see what happens :D
  21. Yeah I was thinking perhaps that... Though it also sounds like the starter is "slipping" so perhaps that's on the way out too :D
  22. Hello again, day 2 of posting over problems :D uh, right, I took my cluster out and dismantled, to fix the bulbs, the pin going into the cluster in the back had melted out, i assumed this was the light one, so i just soldered some wires from the headlight switch directly to the bulbs, and unplugged the bulbs from the circuit inside the cluster. All is well. While doing this I was applying gunk to my engine and the bay, leaving 10 minutes, rinsing off with a hose. Now the devil will not start! Turns over alright, seems to occasionally splutter but never kicks into life... Would fiddling with the clusters have had anything to do with this? or did I probably get gunk/water in somewhere it shouldn't have? It's not like I urgently need to drive the car, as it's currently SORN'd while I fix it, however, it is now stuck sideways in the drive so nobody can get in or out :D Cheerz! -Ben
  23. Checked for air leaks in the intake before the throttle body but didn't see anything, then again it's all covered in oil and dark. it is also a little smoky too it seems? beign my first time owning a vw of such age I am not sure what to expect! But head gasket and everything appear to be okay, if that'd make any difference...
  24. Ah cheers I'll have a look at that. Previous owner had it changed before he had it though, and claimed to have no issues. oh forgot to mention it also has a low idle problem too, which we assume just to be idle control valve... Will know more after fiddling i reckon! :D
