  1. Does anyone know an easy way to get this out...

     

    I have taken the 4 bolts that hold it in under the dash, and removed the clip to the brake pedal.. It moves, but as you pull it ui, it fouls on the suspension turret!!! :epicfail:

     

    Any ideas would be really great :)


  2. I can hardly wait.. The raddo goes into my garage tomorrow. The missus is out in the night so I have all afternoon, and night to get on with it :)

    I'm also off next week, going away on Wednesday, but have Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues to do it :)

     

    So, unless I'm feeling lazy or something goes wrong, she should be firing by Tuesday :)

  3. I'm not sure yet mate, haven't even started to look yet.

     

    This is my first engine conversation, been learning on the job with my friend who is a mechanic.. So for now, I just miss my baby, so want her on the road, and learning loads in the process... Once she's on the road, and saved for the wedding, I'll begin looking at turbos and management systems.

     

    Did you have any issues that you want to share when putting the ABF in? I'm using the new ignition system, so we have had all the wiring out to redo it too!!!


  4. Hey everyone,

     

    So i've had my corrado for a while and bought it from a member on here.

     

    After a few months of driving the car seemed to develop a low oil pressure problem, before I had time to solve it it burnt all its oil and the motorway and the bottom end went...

     

    This is what she looked like when I bought her:

    I didn't like the front lights, and there was a few things to tidy up...

     

    So i worked on the rust on the rear arch:

    So, after this little tidy up the bottom end went... What was I to do:

     

    1. VR it...

    2. Fix the shells on the bottom end

     

    I'm still not sure about a VR, so I found a MK3 ABF golf VERY cheap and thought, strip it for parts and do an engine conversion, i'll get a similar engine to what I had with a few more brake, and a new ignition setup :)

     

    I'll probs end up turboing the ABF engine :)

     

    So the work began to strip the golf:

    Thats where I am now, the golf is going this week, I need to fix the missus Polo, and then the Raddo is in for its love...

     

    Plans:

     

    Smooth the bay

    Annihilate Rust

    ABF engine in

    Replace parts that need it

     

     

    There is a long list, but this will do for now :)

  5. Found the problem,

     

    Could someone post a picture of the pic below when the pipe is intact.. does anyone know if its cracked and should be one unit, or if its 2 units and its been disloged.. I assume this is how the oil leak happened, it must of been knocked when the switch was taken off to test the pressure...

  6. I took my car to a garage my family know well as the oil pressure light and buzzer were coming on.. It had loads of oil (and the right stuff).

     

    I got the car back, and they had tested the pressure, he said its a bit low, but its ok. I then drove it home (120miles). On the way home it started knocking, so i pulled over and checked the oil.. There was NO oil.. The car has NEVER leaked oil.. :nono:

     

    It was 11pm last night, so i called the AA who towed me to the services and we filled her up with oil... The bottom end continues to knock even will the correct amount of oil. From what I can see the engine block has oil on it right by the pressure switch (which it didn't before it went in). So I can only assume that the switch hasn't been correctly put in.. :nono:

     

    I'll have a proper look when I get home (in the daylight) however I'm nearly 100% certain the garage is at fault. i just need to prove it. I will get have to find an independent garage to come out and assess the damage and the cause. If the switch is the culprit, then I'll have to seek damages from the garage.

     

    I've only had the corrado 2 months.. and it now needs a new bottom end.. :shock: :pale:

  8. LOL you know what i followed the guide above but it didn't say which colour on the rightclick went to what..... So i followed your guide... I think this should be put in the wiki ;)

     

    All works now, only thing left to do is wire up the indicators and the electirc windows for total closure ;) (sunroof too if i want to get a bit mental)


  9. Wow, thats really detailed.. Thanks!! I'm going to go into it at the back.. (where it plugs into the central locking pump). Those colours are there so thats brilliant!!! I'll attempt this today, as for the door.. to be honest, its so fidlly in there and the passengar side window needs a new regulator that I'm going to get him to fix this!!!

     

    I REALLY appreicate the time and detail you have posted mate!!! And yes I got a rightclick one ;) Nice bit of kit :) :clap:


  10. Hi,

     

    I started looking last night to install my Remote Central Locking kit. I took the door card off, and noticed an air pipe AND a solenoid..

     

    The car has a Scorpion Alarm system installed (739) which is now obselete.. Would I be right to assume that original the central locking would be on an air pump (still works and is installed), but when the alarm was fitted they needed some way to hook into the central locking and as such attached a solenoid to be able to pull the lock down which then would kick the pump into action and lock the other doors?

     

    Ideally, I can just find the wiring from the solenoid that attaches to the alarm (which doesn't work) and wire them up?

     

    Oh and my second problem is, somehow I have unattached or broken the door handle, as it now doesn't open the door. Its soooo fiddly getting into the door.. any ideas as to how its attached, and best methods to fix. IF its really fiddly, I might just book it into a garage to get it done...


  11. So i got under the car last night to sort out the power steering.. I thought just the tensioner bolt was loose...

     

    It wasn't there!!! lol Also the tensioner bolt couldn't go into a nice bolt due to the fact the wrong bolt was used previously..

     

    I took a pic to illustrate! The silver bolt is what is missing and how I assume the car used to run.. before the bolt fell out!

  12. Hey everyone, I'm new :) :wave:

     

    I recently bought a corrado from someone on here, its lovely, can't believe I've waited so long to buy one :)

     

    So it was quite cheap, and has some body work issues I want to get fixed, the main bits that need urgent attention, and I'm hoping to get some advice from here on is:

     

    1. Oil Pressure Light & Buzzer

    Occasionally the light and buzzer come on, a small rev, and the light and buzzer goes a way again.

    I'm thinking, the switch, or a oil pump problem? Any common problems I should be aware of? I changed the oil to make sure it had nice oil in it, and the problem is still there, so its not that... I went to a garage to get an oil pressure check done, and he said if the buzzer isn't on the oil pressure is OK, so not point in doing one till the problem is happening, he also said the switch if it was failing would have oil round it (which it doesn't).

     

    2. Dash

    I've been driving in the rain, the lights and wipers on, when i turn the wipers off the clocks needles go down to the bottom, and then shoot up... Quite funny to watch, wondering if the dash being broken might be connected to it thinking the oil pressure is not right...

     

    3. Power Steering Belt

    Its squeeks when you turn the wheel, and I have manual steering pretty much, there is enough fluid, so I assume its the belt.. Where is the belt? Down on the right by the alternator there is the alternator belt, then a belt beneath it, is this it (goes round 3 cogs)? Which is the power steering, and which is the cambelt... Excuse the stupid question, I just don't know :( If its an easy swap over on a belt I can do that (i've done an alternator belt). Any help would be great!!!

     

     

     

    4. Coolant light it flashing

    There is the right amount of coolant, and it doesn't overheat ever... The plug is also free from dirt...


  13. So I've just bought a corrado from someone on the forum, really nice car, very pleased.. The Oil Pressure light came on today, and start beeping, so I turned the car off, restarted it, and it didn't come back. it came back again the following day, so I reved it a lil, and it went.

     

    I'm going to the garage in an hour to get a oil pressure check done, lets hope its just a wiring fault or a switch issue :)
