  1. hi all, just thought i would share some of my misfortune and get it off my chest!!.. for the first time in a long time i left my wifes car unlocked last night as i fell asleep on the sofa, only to come out to the car this morning to no dvd players and a missing wallet..yes, i went shopping with her yesterday only for me to forget the fact i left it in her car which was nicely unlocked when a theiving little scumbag decided to walk down my drive ,have a nosey down the side of my house(gate was left ajar), the steal the said items... thing is, i trailed all my receipts, notes and migraine pills all the way down the road, in the particular direction of a known "scumbags house"...... luckily,my wallet had about£8 in it, and none of my cards appear to of been used. is £8 really alot of money to these single brain celled individuals? worse than any of that, and a real insult to me and the kids(i bought the players for them)is that the dvd charger kit etc was all still in the glovebox, so i and him have a useless bit of equipment!!!!! can somebody in any way tell me what goes through these plonkers heads? if anything!!! poxy little people who appear to have a big attitude. ggrrrrr..
  2. lol, good little post this, you got to love electrical gremlins!!!.. when i got my corrado the passenger side window didn"t work.turned out to be the motor just needed a good spraying of wd40 and a re grease. that said, also check out the window control unit/relays which are located behind the rear driver side quarter panel(careful you don"t break the clips, they just need a small flat screwdriver to pry them slightly).i did also spray the relays and refix the earths!! hope my experiences/info is of some help. and good luck!!!!
  3. hi all, after recently putting my sunroof up(tilting) and breaking the passenger side lifting arm(rocker i believe), im after a new sunroof.. i have a later m reg corrado and ideally the colour should be aqua blue. however, even if its not it doen"t really matter as i just need the mech/parts to repair mine.. im located just outside of guildford, surrey but am willing to travel within a 30 mile radius of guildford to collect or if your willing and further away i am prepared to pay extra for the item to cover the postage..as ive said, ideally im just after the mechanism setup, but will take any option tbh!!!!!!.many thanks, jeff ps, cash is king but i can sort you out through paypal as well.

    Sunroof saga..

Hi all.. Just a very quick question here. Are all sunroofs the same on corrados? I'm only asking as mine recently snapped an arm/part of the mech as I put the sunroof up,so I'm looking for another one( if u know of one let me know :-) ) I'm just unsure as to whether some are tilt and slide and others perhaps, slide, like my mk2 golf? :-/ any help appreciated!!! Ps, when it's cold outside leave the sunroof alone, lol..
  5. wow, thanks for all the help and feedback you guys. because yes, it is unmolested and so original i am going to keep it that way. i might do a couple of sneaky internal upgrades to the lump(maybe head and cam work) but think all the rest will be left alone. quite rightly though as pointed out the suspension will have to be upgraded as its just too boat like at the moment(any suggestions for brands/ride height etc appreciated).. other than generally looking after it, im going to look at giving my mk2 gti a heart transplant rather than the rado, as ive had that for 10odd years now and think it deserves it..maybe a turbo 2.0 mk2? time to do some homework!!!!! laslty i have put a thread up of my freebie in the gallery if you want to take a nosey. thanks all!!!!
  6. WOW thanks for all the suggestions, nice feedback and advice everyone,(even you jealous ones, lol.)im really glad i showed it on here as i kept thinking,oh its just another rado,lol.. seemingly, even if it is, with people saying its pretty unique and a very nice car and the fact i know it is an unmolested and honest one (sounds wrong, lol) i think im going to follow the words of many and keep it all standard. although there is one thing i do need to change/improve on which is the handling. do any of you recommend a full sus kit. ive had avo and koni set ups in the past on various cars, but do any of you guys use and rate any others?also i reckon a 30-40mm drop??any little tips of first hand knowledge are well appreciated. rather than plough money into the engine of this car, my mk2 gti (which ive had pretty standard now for 11years) is going for a heart transplant..other than that, im generally going to pamper and lokk after this c, as well as hopefully put some more pics up later ,even a few comical ones!!! BIG THANKS again everyone for the help and input.. ---------- Post added at 03:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 PM ---------- i shall be having a nosey later on tonight at the said kit. many thanks for that!!
  7. dont you worry, i will DEFINATELY find the inspiration for it now. however, please leave my switches well alone,lol....i cant even think of any other car with similiar switches like them tbh.but if i find any or anything that fits i will message you!!! many thanks, jeff
  8. oh and just to add, the g60 steelies where put on just so i could get it home, as tyres where flat and windows where stuck shut!!!lol ---------- Post added at 11:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 PM ---------- really? i guess the garage it is from now on then for this one!!!!! hence my other thread, it needs the finishing toucjh now, the engine!!!thanks for the feedback.yes it was going to the banger boys/breakers as a couple of pppl had knocked on his door!!!crazy to think he even left the keys in it under the drivers seat!!although not running, even easier to hoist!!!
  9. well everyone, ive owned her for for about 8 months now so thought i would get my arse into gear and get some pics up and tell the little story of how i got it. basically, i rescued this little car from my father in law. as you can see from the first picture it wasn"t in the best of shape!! in a nut shell, the car had developed a water leak on the passenger side foot well which annoyed my father in law so much he went and bought a 4x4 and stopped using the corrado... 2 years later after it had sat in the same spot he finally decided to give me the car (no influence made on him what so ever!!).. when i got the car back to mine i finally discovered where the leak was coming from. the tree that he used to park the car under had blocked the drain gulley on the scuttle/inner arch so the water just built up along the scuttle, and having nowhere to go except through the heater surround/motor hole!!!! not all good though from here, i had to spend quite a bit of money on getting her road worthy, especially as mice had let themselves in the car, luckily not liking the mushrooms growing in the footwell or the cow hide interior, but liking the taste of ht leads, air flow meter pipes etc.... lol.... i also had to get a new ecu, both fuel pumps, blow through the fuel lines and trace 1 wiring fault for the immobiliser, remove mould from the headlining,as well as a damn good polish!!!!!! other than that its been pretty bullet proof apart from the lift pump was a bit dodgy. (any tips on replacing with an after market one appreciated, escpecially the sizing of the rubber pipe!).. ive clocked up a few miles so far, but its generally my sunday blast car!!! its a genuine 1 owner from new, got 84k on the clock with the history and is all standard..it has the vr pack i believe, as its got the heated leather/air con extras,as well as the bonnet bulge!! not sure where i shalll take this car from here on, part of the deal in me having this car for free, was that i was not to sell it,if i do, he wants half the money!!!(hence my thread earlier today)..its all original, even down to the pirrelli tyres,lol... lastly i have a few more pictures to come up but suddenly having some difficulty with my pc, so will try again tomorrow...
  10. turbo 2 litre!!! strangely i have overlooked the valver option on this thread.... i now feel embarressed..almost naked!!!! that said, does anyone know where i could start with this choice as thinking about it, it probably is the best overall option but could it be the most expensive? ...the annoying thing about the engine is that it doesn"t really get going until its rolling above 40/50 then its a pretty nifty little lump!!! i believe the base 2.0 was suitable for turbo options with a thicker h. gasket etc, but does anyone know first hand of a good firm/company that have done the work?especially in the south east? if so what sort of cost would you be looking at? thanks for the input already peeps, im actually starting to feel an old bug come back to me(kinda good except for the credit cards),lol... laslty all, i shall be putting some pics/story of the car up in the gallery shortly if you want to have a nosey!!!!
  11. hi all, firstly, thanks for taking time out to read this post(i hope its in right forum).. anyway heres my dilema/saga so far... i inherit my father in laws 2.0 16valver, m reg,80k in aqua blue. it has air con/heated leather and hes the only owner...its basically a vr6 without the engine!!!it has the bulge bonnet and wider front arches(looks a bit silly in a way on its alloys). its a a mint car thats honest. my dilema really is that it needs more oomppphh... i really fancy dropping a vr in as its almost there anyway, but obviously dont know how much work is involved. i already have my eye on a donor vr thats a runner etc so will have everything to do it. my main concern is that is there any chassis fabrication needed? i dont really want to get the angle grinder out on a mint standard car to shift an engine mount or something. the other option i could go i guess is the 1.8 t route, but i really dont know anything about this, however i hope that a few of you reading this do and could perhaps share some light/knowledge?. would the 1.8 route be cheaper/quicker than a vr transplant? what sort of headaches comes with this option?(you gotta have some to make it worthwhile!!) lastly, in case your wondering why i don"t just sell it and buy a vr is this...i got the car for free(although i spent £400 getting it back on the road as it sat under a tree for 2 years) and part of the deal of getting it for free was that i DON"T SELL IT!!!! if i do, well, lets not go into that........lol..tbh, i dont want to sell it because everything works, its family and i enjoy the car but it would benefit from that little bit more...wouldn"t we all. ;-)
  12. so sorry for the bad news mate, really got to wonder what goes through these w"$k*rs minds..!!!!! in a twisted way, your fortunate..... because if you had caught one of them you would be standing in front of the crown tomorrow morning and that car can"t rebuild itself!!! i think now theres only one thing to do..... build it bigger and better!!!!!(and the security,).. hope all goes well with it though :-)
  13. hi all. i have to mention this as to put an end to this saga and hopefully spread the knowledge with anyone else with the same problems..if you've already gone through this thread you will notice that ive had a problem with the main fuel pump..anyway to cut a long story short....i replaced the under car fuel pump and then within 1.4 miles it had packed up!! i got it replaced and this new one worked for a few weeks...however, i kept noticing/feeling that on full power the car was holding back on the fuel, and sometimes when i went round corners the car would cut out and the main pump was noiser than usual... i finally checked the fuel tank and found/examined the lift pump(even though i was told by some there wasn"t one!)...here is where the problem lied.... . when i pulled the old lift pump off of the fuel line i noticed blockage in the petrol pipe!!!! this blockage was caused by the black silicone/mastic stuff that vw had used..try not to get this on your hands as white spirit doen"t even shift it!!! as i went round the corners it obviously moved in the pipe and starved the main fuel pump.. i believe now(6months later, lol) that this is the reason the new pump went down after just 1.4 miles!!!!! i just want to end this thread by saying that my main pump cost me around £125 to replace, the lift pump that was starving it of fuel only costs £24 off of ebay!!! the car has been running sweeter than ever for the last few months since replacing it!!!!
  14. yay, right well ive got the car sorted, turns out the new fuel pump (which has covered 1.7 miles) has packed up!!! although i should be happy that the car is now running again, i am slightly concerned and shall probably start another thread up, as im wondering...could the pump of been knocked out/knackered by something else?? anyway thanks for the help chap, some sound advice there...
  15. hey thanks for the reply david, as it goes your right,lol....i have just spent the last couple of hours re tracing my footsteps and yes indeed i think the "brand new* fuel pump has packed up!!!! i did what you suggested and no, no fuel up there!! after putting some more petrol in the car and putting everything back together, i then started at the back of the car and unlike what i was told, there IS a lift pump.!!!! i then tested this by removing the flow pipe and turning ignition on + off, sure as eggs are eggs there was petrol!!!!!.. i shall update this thread tomorrow as i have rung euro car parts and as i have the receipt they are going to exchange it!!! also worth mentioning that the faulty new pump was getting rather hot though, so im guessing its screwed!!!!!heat and petrol dont go well together :-/ hopefully this is just a freak thing and won"t be happening again!!!
  16. morning peeps, my first post here so lets hope i can get to bottom of it!! ive tried to keep it simple and precise so here goes....... basically, i have a "very random" problem that has just started on my corrado 20 16v. its a 1994 m plate jobbie. it has leather/aircon/immobiliser/alarm..so guess its a higher spec one? just needs the engine ;-) anyway, back to the problem. after having the car sail through the mot last week, i tried to start the car on saturday but no joy!!! heres what ive tested for so far.. 1.spark= yes, power into coil, and sparks on all 4 plugs. 2.fuel pump= the pump under car is getting power but it doesn"t prime....??not sure if its meant to?? i have replaced the pump and fuel filter on the car about 2 months ago.i"m not sure the car has a lift pump in the tank, as colbornes told me "no, only the vr6"s do*...... 3.fuel pump relay= again ive replaced it, but am unsure of what numbers to bridge/test so any halp appreciated..im guessing this sends information back to the ecu? 4. fuel=the car has a quarter of a tank of gas.. however, i did remove all plugs, poured a small amount of petrol in the chambers and bang it did run for a couple of seconds then died again.....as can be expected with no continous fuel delivery.... 5.lastly, when i inherited this car the ecu had blown(no power to pump and no spark. i replaced it with the same ecu and bingo it was fine. this like for like ecu was again only fitted 2 months ago so i"m hoping its not this..again, any advice on what numbers/how to test it would be extremely appreciated... although this may not be relevant to this thread i would just like to mention it..when i saved this car from the banger boys, the previous ecu had blown . the reason it had gone was water damage(scale all over it)..this was due to the scuttle drain holes being clogged and the water sitting/leaking onto the ecu..do corrados have a full length scuttle cover like a mk2 golf,or just that little small bit of plastic on the right hand side(that actually covers pollen filter/heater box), as one thing has just hit my whilst i was writing this post....we had alot of rain mid week last week and perhaps the ecu has got damaged again??? any help and advice would be extremely appreciated, as come the end of the month i was going to tax her up ready for the road..once the car has proved its worth im hoping to go down the 1.8t route but thats another story!!!!! many thanks again everyone, even if your as stumped as i am!!!
