  1. prety much think ive sorted this, after replaceing the rotor arm i want to reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery, turns out the negative battery clamp was loose on the terminal even though the clamp bolt was tight, got it sorted and theres no jerky or jumpy throttle response in the low cruiseing rev range,,, yay :)

  2. hi people, this is getting me down :( only had my raddo 3 weeks, have changed plugs {ngk} leads, airfilter, cleaned maf, it idles fine, its just the response from around 1200-1700 revs is shocking almost kangarooy, just before i was waiting on the hill waiting for the traffic lights to go green, got to the top {in 1st} and gave it some throttle on the level road and it kangarood so bad,{has a 1/4 tank of fuel,} but once it was on the flat for abit it stopped but still the response in the 1200-1700 rev range is still crap, throttle cable has about 7mm play in it, but its all out of adjustment, its booked in next week to have the wires on the hall sender looked at as ones burnt off, im realy hopeing this is the problem, would a hall sender wire give bad throtle response? any ideas guys?

  3. hi guys, going to be fitting mk4 rear calipers very shortly {hopefully lol} already have the calipers and the conversion hoses should be here tomo, but my main concern is the brake fitting on my current braided hose , its so badly corroded that i dont think its going to come off without a fight or careful cutting etc ,never played with brake lines before so the fittings etc are new to me{ im very familiar with plumbing fittings and pipe flareing as a plumber but not car fittings}, but i consider myself competant so i wana give it fookn good go, any advice much appreciated, is the worst case that if the corroded fitting doesnt come off, idd have to cut out the corroded fitting and slide on the fitting and flare the copper pipe end and reconnect to my new hose? cheers

  4. hi guys, i have about 5mm play in my drivers door, it shuts/opens fine but you can see scrape marks on the sill where the bottom edge of the door has been rubbing, any advice on what to do about it? can you press out the hinge pins? cheers..

  5. hi ppl, looking into getting banded steels for my vr6, not sure on the dimensions i wanna go for yet, i still need to get the steelies, but what would be the ultimate best look dimensions with no modifications {other then the banding} and no rubbing, i.e wheel size, offset and width, thanks..

  6. hi all, have a slight problem when starting cold, idle is iratic from 0 to 1000rpm and you have to put ya foot down abit otherwise it cuts out, once its warm its fine idles at 1000rpm perfect, any ideas of what sensor it is? or whats up?

read somewhere that it could be the lambda sensor? also through all gears at around 1500-1900rpm it feels alittle jerky or hesitant? but if you put ya foot down to say 2200rpm it clears and pulls through the rev range fine, any advice much appreciated thanks...

  7. sorted this out today an absolute treat!! i used bicycle { shimano} outer brake cable, bicycle tandem inner brake cable {as its longer then regular cable} 5 brass ferrall end caps, x1 cable clamp {knarp} and a bicycle brake barrel adjuster from a brake lever, total cost of around £10.00!! put plenty of oil in the cable as well and its smooth as butter!!!!! couldnt of turned out better!

  8. VR uses replaceable elements, so don't whack a screwdriver through the outer case!

that e-bay tool is for the 4cyl cars, think you just need a spanner/socket for the VR

yea on vr you can use a 36mm socket on the bottom of the filter houseing, but further up you have spanner flats all around the houseing for a tool similar to that ebay one,idd rather use that as its bigger and less likely to damage anything, just need to confirm its size? if not ill just use the socket.

  9. Had a thorough search, traced all wiring back to their plugs and i have no free wire not plugged in anywhere. Is this stat live on all vr's? Mines an early vr6 OBD1 engine. Could this just be an un-used stat?

    Cheers,

    Martin

hello m8, in regards to the wires, i have a random yellow and black wire in that loom that looks like its been burnt off, possibly due to engine heat? did you have a yellow and black wire in your loom? if so whats it for? cheers.

  10. had a good butchers today,{only just brought the car} and it seems like someones fitted a new inner cable but fitted the white plastic cable stop that sits in the wire spring loop on the wrong side so the cable just pulls through the release wire spring loop{on drivers side release}, also the metal tab cable stop was bent over towards the passenger side, tryed fitting it how it should be and they cut the cable to short so both release's are permantly open and i cant adjust the length because the cable crimp bolt on the end is none existant lol ,the outer cable needs replacing aswell its real shabby.so for now its still opens via rope pull lol, thanks for the replys ppl i'll get this done this week when i get a few hours spare :)

  11. hi guys, need to sort this out as its annoying me but i cannot find the parts or a kit anywhere, would be nice if there was a cable for it so its just plug n play but i got a feeling im just gona have to make one up? can someone link me to one? thank q

  12. hello, can someone put me straight on what oil i can use in my vr6 corrado ABV year 93, whats the deal with useing synthetic and semi syn? i was told that i shouldnt use synthetic as my engine wasnt designed to use it, the guy wasnt a motor mechanic though, looking through the service history its had an oil change at a bosh service centre with 10/40 semi synthetic oil so that must be ok to use.something like this be ok? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Shell-Helix-HX7-Semi-Synthetic-Engine-Oil-10w-40-5-L-/300454883970?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item45f481b282
