  1. So, I have fixed the dudgy lead but the car refuses to start. It is getting fuel to all 4 cylinders. It is getting spark to all 4 cylinders (although the spark doesn't look great to me) There is an occasional spark that can be seen down by the distributor, I'm guessing this is not normal? At the same time I fixed the ignition lead I swapped in a new distributor cap and rotor arm, but have for now reverted back to the old one. So the car turns over but will not start, it did make a small attempt just once, but not since. What could be the issue? Have I got the leads inthe wrong order? (the rotor arm turns anti-clockwise yes?), is it a poor spark? or is the random spark down by the distributor in on the act in some way? Any help & ideas welcome!!
  2. Thanks for the quick reply, I did a search of the forum and did see the thread you linked to, so at least that gives me some info on which leads to use/avoid and sources for leads. Still wondering about the crimp connector though. I'd rather have a workable solution for a few quid rather than £50, especially as the 3 other leads seem to be tip top. hmmm..... is it worth checking breakers?
  3. Hi, been having a bit of a misfire issue recently so 1st thing I checked was the plugs & leads. 1,2,and 3 were fine, got to lead #4 and the damn end which fixes to the distributor came off in my hand :censored: Oh well, that may explain where the misfire was coming from..... Lead #4 is the one that goes through the donut shaped thing (knock sensor?) on the 2litre 16v ? so the end is meant to seperate to allow it to be fed through the sensor? well, it looks like a previouse owner has crimped the connector onto the end of the lead pretty badly and now the connector is pretty much useless. I think if I could find a replacement crimp connector I could get the lead back to working order, otherwise I guess I'm looking at a whole new SET of HT leads??? Question 1: does this crimp connector have a special name/part number? and where might I find one? Question 2: if I need to go the new HT leads route, where can I get some decent stock replacements? many thanks.
