  1. After seven years owning my VR6 I've finally got around to making sure the old girl lasts the distance. There was a time when I had no choice but to use her all through winter with all the snow and blasted grit. As a result, she developed some nasty rust - mainly on the drivers door.

I picked up another door to replace the old one, invested in some new roof rails as the old ones had perished. She's just come out of the bodyshop after three weeks and the pics here show just how much work was done to her - and I thought she wasn't too bad! I've just picked her up and had a thrash through the Dorset scenery (I'm sure the paint has made her more slippery through the air?).

As with every motor, there's still more I want to do, with the wheels high on the list. Looking for a good (and cheap) refurb' outlet in Dorset as I can't stretch to the £80 + the dreaded I've been quoted per corner. Enjoy the pics...

  2. I'm sure this has been on here at some stage, but I've just discovered this site http://howmanyleft.co.uk/?q=vw+corrado which deals with registered UK cars both taxed and SORN. Makes for some interesting reading with the following stats which would probably be reflected globally.

    VR6 - 1.4k

    16V - 798

    G60 - 370

Corrado - 114 (not sure which one this relates to? )

    VR6 Auto - 51

    VR6 Storm - 8

    Corrado Auto - 5

    VR6 Storm Auto - 0

1400 VR6's dead, written-off, crushed, broken since 2000! Last VR6 Auto died 2008/9 - unless you know better?!

  3. My VR is just having a re-spray and I want to get the wheels up to spec. The original Speedlines are a bit shot and scabby. Would I be best to get them shot blasted then polished? Like tevO I'm on a budget as I've blown my wad (asitwere) on the paint.

  4. I've been using Showroom Shine for a year or so. Bought the stuff not really believing the hype. However, it works! Carnauba wax is the magic ingredient as it is real slippy and helps remove all those bugs. Other makes re available!

  5. I'm trying to locate a tidy drivers door for my VR6 M reg. Any colour (if it's LB72 silver then it's a bonus) would be fine just as long as it is rust free (can cope with small ding/s).

As close to Dorset as possible. Cheers.
