  1. Again, had done this recently the last time I had problems like this. Replacing the entire ignition system, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotar arm had solved this. What do you mean about the pulley notch? Is it down to the crank pulley bolt? Having checked that all the timing marks line up and after the ignition parts solving the issue thought that that may not be the problem.

its a vw design issue, but if all your marks line up then your ok,the bolts loosens allowing the pulley to move slightly which in turn wears the crank and the pulley notch

  2. sounds like the classic g60 crank pulley notch failing to me,mine had the same symptoms and finally gave up and wouldnt start, you need to check the timing marks all line up

  3. Hi guys, driving home last night the wipers, blower fan and rear window demister all stopped at the same time!,stayed that way untill i got home, tried it this morning all working again, well confused by this and only thing i can think off is the ignition switch? anyone had this or can come up with an answer

  4. ok only the 2 wires then thats what i have,so looking for a fault at the clocks or the rev counter itself, regarding the vacuum hoses i still have the 2 at the back of the body top one to ecu as you state other one comes round to the front of the intake manifold, and its a bigger one from the bottom thats blanked with a bolt,so thats the one for the canister? thanks for your help

  5. hi,finally got the car to run (usual crank pulley problem) but i have no rev counter its never worked on this recent purchase,i believe it takes its signal fron the coil?? but i have only 2 wires to my coil on spade terminals,i found a 2 port white plastic connector in the glove box that looks like it once lived on the coil but there are no loose wires anywhere near the coil ,anyone any idea, its a digital speedo version(91).also have a blanked off vacuum hose below the throttle body facing passengers side wing again cant see what it was once connected too,is this a mod or a bodge?cheers

  6. sorry dude but youve confused the hell out of me! The crank pulley is held to the crank with one 12 point bolt, look at the stickies because these have been known to work loose causing keyway damage and worse

The vibration damper is attached to the pulley via four allen key bolts

yeah im confused too,all that came off with the 4 bolts out was the power steering belt pulley and the centre of the vibration damper, the pulley for the big belt is still attached via the 19mm bolt?? and its not just tight its def held on with it,think im getting to the bottom of this now just need to get a 12 point socket for the bolt and see whats in behind

  7. quick update, had a look at the cam, crank timing tonight and it appears that the crank bolt has been put through the pulley!then tightened down is this even possible? i cant get the pulley off to get at the lower cover or cam belt, this cant be right is it? my 8v gti had a similar set up but the big pulley was held on by the 4 6mm allen bolts, anyone advise please

  8. hi guys, bought a g60 last week and by the time i got back home about 30 miles i noticed it wasnt revving well, next day tried to check the charger on the mfa and as soon as i gave it some welly it died on me like no fuel getting in,it ran about half a mile before finally dying, now wont start, plenty of fuel getting to the rail and nice spark at plug, ive checked for voltage at the rail and im getting 8.5v steady while cranking,is that right?also checked the timing marks as ive heard of crank pulley problems and the cam, rotor arm and flywheel marks are bob on but the mark on the crank pulley is about 11 oclock and not straight up,how can that be??oh and plugs were dry when removed so im assuming injectors aint opening, any ideas guys
