    G60 woes :-(

its a vw design issue, but if all your marks line up then your ok,the bolts loosens allowing the pulley to move slightly which in turn wears the crank and the pulley notch

    G60 woes :-(

sounds like the classic g60 crank pulley notch failing to me,mine had the same symptoms and finally gave up and wouldnt start, you need to check the timing marks all line up
  3. ok let me get this right, the car ran fine before now has no compression after the timing belt has been changed? somehow you have bent a valve in every cylinder there is no other answer to this unless your tool isnt sealing right in the head, head off im afraid
  4. sounds like your crank pulley has worn its notch,it happens to all of them eventually
  5. you just have that one Neil ill get another if i need it
  6. brilliant thanks guys, the cars now in the bodyshop for a week so will need to wait to check this relay,im assuming this x relay is relay 4??,cheers boost monkey ill get in touch if its the relay i need
  7. Hi guys, driving home last night the wipers, blower fan and rear window demister all stopped at the same time!,stayed that way untill i got home, tried it this morning all working again, well confused by this and only thing i can think off is the ignition switch? anyone had this or can come up with an answer
  8. hi guys,my rev counter is faulty and it seems to be the instrument or board thats at fault, anyone know if it has to be a g60 dash or will any 4 cylinder dash work?
  9. i cant go either but hopefully they will arrange another meet soon
  10. ok im in killie we will need to bump into one another some time!i also have a g60.are you going to the doune meet?
  11. typical! only sunday i cant make as in newcastle for great north run,pm me please if you are arranging another meet
  12. hi bmcc where are you in ayrshire?
  13. have you checked the crank pulley timing marks as that is the exact symptoms i had and the pulley was really worn throwing the timing out
  14. ok only the 2 wires then thats what i have,so looking for a fault at the clocks or the rev counter itself, regarding the vacuum hoses i still have the 2 at the back of the body top one to ecu as you state other one comes round to the front of the intake manifold, and its a bigger one from the bottom thats blanked with a bolt,so thats the one for the canister? thanks for your help
  15. hi,finally got the car to run (usual crank pulley problem) but i have no rev counter its never worked on this recent purchase,i believe it takes its signal fron the coil?? but i have only 2 wires to my coil on spade terminals,i found a 2 port white plastic connector in the glove box that looks like it once lived on the coil but there are no loose wires anywhere near the coil ,anyone any idea, its a digital speedo version(91).also have a blanked off vacuum hose below the throttle body facing passengers side wing again cant see what it was once connected too,is this a mod or a bodge?cheers
  16. yeah im confused too,all that came off with the 4 bolts out was the power steering belt pulley and the centre of the vibration damper, the pulley for the big belt is still attached via the 19mm bolt?? and its not just tight its def held on with it,think im getting to the bottom of this now just need to get a 12 point socket for the bolt and see whats in behind
  17. quick update, had a look at the cam, crank timing tonight and it appears that the crank bolt has been put through the pulley!then tightened down is this even possible? i cant get the pulley off to get at the lower cover or cam belt, this cant be right is it? my 8v gti had a similar set up but the big pulley was held on by the 4 6mm allen bolts, anyone advise please
  18. cheers guys, ive ordered a new relay for the ecu, would i still get voltage at the fuel rail and a spark if the ecu relay was faulty? and pump relay is good as there is plenty of fuel up to the rail, will try another battery just to eliminate it and maybe have a look at the pulley,
  19. no problem ill get some pics taken of the heap and get them posted!
  20. hi guys, bought a g60 last week and by the time i got back home about 30 miles i noticed it wasnt revving well, next day tried to check the charger on the mfa and as soon as i gave it some welly it died on me like no fuel getting in,it ran about half a mile before finally dying, now wont start, plenty of fuel getting to the rail and nice spark at plug, ive checked for voltage at the rail and im getting 8.5v steady while cranking,is that right?also checked the timing marks as ive heard of crank pulley problems and the cam, rotor arm and flywheel marks are bob on but the mark on the crank pulley is about 11 oclock and not straight up,how can that be??oh and plugs were dry when removed so im assuming injectors aint opening, any ideas guys
  21. Hi corrado guys, new to the forum and new to corrado's although ive wanted one for years, bought a cheap g60 last week, pretty sound with fsh and that purpley colour, honeymoon is over already as its not starting so will be posting in the tech section soon looking for advise  cheers
