  1. Okay so I have seen a few different variations of badges, firstly the VR6 grill badge (Red, which I understand to come from the early VR's? Chrome like the ones that ARZ Tuning currently sell and Silver with like a brushed effect to it. As well as the larger VR6 that came on the 2.8 Golfs).

VR6 rear options - The rectangle badge which again I belive is from the golf, Small chrome(shiney), Red(early) & Silver brushed face with black edges.

The Corrado badge itself - Chrome (shiney), Silver brushed effect face with black plastic base & coloured coded to match body paint colour - was this actually offered as an option or have people just colour coded there own?

Then there's the SLC off the U.S versions

Am I correct in thinking anything Chrome is an aftermarket reproduced badge and the originals are the only ones that had the brushed effect??

  2. So does anybody know what are among the rarest colours of all? i.e. how few were made in what colour. Apart from the obvious like the Mystic Blue Storm's & the Campains

I wonder if VW hold any records of how many were produced in what colours??

  3. Frankly the new BS AU requirement is a pain, I had a set made up as OE dealer style ones a couple of years ago complete with old style VW and Audi logo and the original issuing dealers details with the older prefix telephone number on it.

No BS AU marking and I suspect they should just be used as 'show plates' but its bloody crazy when you consider my 16v-g60 is still on its original plates which meet the legal requirement until I have to replace them!

Just out of intrest who was your orginal dealer then? Does it still exist? Mine doesn't!

  4. Hi does anyone out there know where I can get a set of registration plates made up in the older style meaning pre 2001 Charles Wright font? I believe the older font size, well width is 57mm as opposed to the new legal standard of 50mm??

I prefer the look of the older style font. I believe these are still legal to use on the road but must not show the new obligatry BS code - BS AU 145d as this will state that the plates were made after 2001 which I believe would be illegal?

  5. Ok, don't laugh at this one. I'm sitting eating dinner with the mrs and being forced to watch Hollyoaks on e4.

Some old guy is walking through a car park with a wheelie bin when we noticed a dark green (possibly a Storm) Rado. K reg, possibly starting K334.

Very nice looking car, and about the only decent thing in Hollyoaks!!!!

It won't be a Storm on a K registered vehicle and from the picture it's clearly not wearing Solitudes!

Spotted today a Mystic Blue storm N36 UCF @ 4PM The Galleon Public House, Old Wolverton in Milton Keynes had a good look round it and a great chat with the gentleman that owns it. 270K and still looking good. The owners name was Duncan James from Cambs and he suggested we try and get a storm meet organised!

  6. I was out today getting some treats for my Storm, well a set of McGard locking wheel bolts to replace my original ones that I snapped as the last person who put on my wheels has done all of the bolts up far too tight!

I was driving past the Galleon Pub in Wolverton Milton Keynes when I spotted out of the corner of my eye a Mystic Blue on Solitudes. After having a good look around her and seeing on the mileage what I thought was 70,000miles I left a note on the windscreen saying if your intrested in selling call me. After about 20mins I was halfway home when the chap called me back. I ask if he was in any rush (being a sunday afternoon) and asked if I could meet him to which he duly obliged. We then spent the next hour talking about our cars and all things storm. And also found out the mileage I read was incorrect and was actually 270,000miles which suprised me as the bodywork was in really good condition for that mileage.

The throughly nice chaps name was Duncan James he said he was on here but hadn't been on for a few years and after investigating I can't seem to find him?! He said he was from Cambridgeshire, I wonder if anyone else has seen him on there travels?......

  7. Let's face it the longer you hold on to it the more it will be worth as they are getting rarer, so you could say that you are actually going to gain from keeping it in the long run. You could buy a brand new car and lose hundreds on it month on month while paying out hundreds month on month for the pleasure. I know you get reliability but it's a machine so can go wrong at any time. I know where my logic lies on this one!
