  1. Jay, that is excellent advice and I fully endorse what you have said.

I replaced all the bushes, brakes, etc on mine about four years ago. It drives like a new car...smooth handling and arrow straight. It is pointless putting on flash wheels and fancy suspension kits unless the foundations of the car are right. Also, most suspension kits completely ruin the ride comfort and handling as they are too hard and or too low. I would go with the following; 30% uprated springs and dampers, lowered no more than 40mm front and rear.

  2. Stonejag...ref the lead tool, it is not on the bonnet prop for all cars. Some have it attached to the car jack wrench. That is were mine is. I will happily put up a picture tomorrow to show you its location if you need me to.

  3. Abdul, if I didn't already have two (VR6 and now also a 2.0 16v) then I would happily buy it.....and then sell it back to you for alot more when you start to miss it !!

BMW 330ci...had one about 6yrs ago. They are nice, but I prefer the driving position, looks and rarity of a Corrado.

  4. swiftkid, thanks for letting me know about the sunroof drain pipes.

The brakes on the car are original apart from the Goodridge braided hoses. I got new front and rear calipers from VW few years ago as I get them for a good price.

The second hand calipers that I'm refurbing are going to be a spare set.

If I do want to go to 288's, what would I need to change?

  5. Jobs for the next few days; (1) Remove front bumper and check the radiator support/panels. (2) Remove rear bumper and check panel. (3) Finish assembling calipers.

The front and rear bumpers have never been taken off, so it'll be interesting to see the condition of the metal work behind them. Hopefully all will be okay. I'll put up photos of what I find.

  6. Ah, Mountain Biking, one of my past times. Got this Scott Racing Expert a few years back for £600. How tall are you?

Stick to makes like Giant, Trek, Marin, Scott, Cube, Focus, etc etc. If you haven't heard of it, and it's expensive, then most likely it's a good pro bike. Steel and Titanium frames a better for "feel", but Aluminium ones are more robust. If you are serious about off roading, then go for the smallest frame that fits you and you are comfortable with. Happy hunting.

  7. Brought a set of calipers recently from Karl. I decided to refurb them so that they will be a good spare set to keep. The new seal kit and bleed nipples that I ordered arrived this morning. The calipers need a second coat of paint once the first coat has dried overnight. VR6 calipers are getting difficult to obtain and the carriers are horrendously expensive from VW.

  8. I removed the rear reg plate plinth today to check the condition of the bodywork behind it as it can be an area that rusts. Happily it was all clean there. The plinth can be a real pain to remove without breaking it as VW use double sided tape at the bottom. I took my time removing and managed to do it without breaking it. I also modified the plinth by bonding some proper bolts to it, instead of using the plastic ones. I won't be using the double sided sticky tape when I put it back on the car.

  9. KADVR6, thanks mate, glad you liked it. I've picked up a new set of roof trims from the dealer. Don't even ask how much....

4eyes2wheels, to be honest I wanted a mystic blue one, but when this one came up, I went for it. I think red looks good on a Corrado with the contrasting black trim.

I'll put some more pics up in the next few days detailing the work I've done to it and its spec.

  10. I'm after a BROKEN/DAMAGED radiator top elbow. As these are obsolete I'm going to look at fabricating one out of metal, but I need an original one to measure etc. I know that daves16v made one, but I'm not sure if he has any plans to make anymore. The one on my VR6 is very old, and I'll be stuck if it breaks. Does anyone have a broken/damaged unwanted one? Please PM me if you do.

  11. You may want to try Euro Car Parts aswell, it is called an Additional Water Pump on their computers, part number 201440740. I paid £56.83 for mine, but that was in 2003. Still going strong though. Don't know what make it was. The meyle one from vwspares sounds about the right price today at £62.94. I would certainly not pay £120 for one!
