1. Yesterday was productive, I put the car up on Jack stands and removed the entire exhaust. After consulting the manual, turns out the 02 sensor is normally mounted in the catalytic converter (which for some strange reason is not there). Hopefully I can get off early today or tomorrow to have a new system built from the local exhaust shop. Keep you posted, Dodger
2. So there is a strange mounted plug on the aft motor mount that the o2 harness is plugged into. It basically grounds out one wire and the other three go no further than the plug. The o2 sensor is not there! I dont' know why it would have been removed? So I ordered one today as well as four new fuel injectors. Any idea why it would be removed? It appears to be a kit to do just that? Dodger
3. After lots of tests and replacement parts I think I need an engine. Every time I drive the car it dies after a few miles. If I clean the carbon off the plugs it runs fine till they carbon up again. It smokes constantly. If I pull off the CDR valve when it is running, it smokes like a train. Way too much crank case pressure! Any ideas? Dodger
4. I am getting 43 psi at idle? Is that good? Filter and pump are new.
5. Turns out to be my fuel injectors are hardly letting any fuel through them. Is there a suggested way to clean them? Something I can try at home? Thanks, Dodger
6. Alright Mates, I am lost! Pretty much new everything. It start today after the new ECU relay. However it drives horribly. It misses real bad, and feels like it is lacking fuel. It is sitting at idle with 43 psi fuel pressure. Any ideas?
7. You know, I never checked that, one more thing to add to the list. I guess this is why I love this car so much, mostly because I have to spend so much time with it. I don't have time for anything else.
8. I guess it will have to wait till tomorrow, the ECU relay did not come in. I installed the new coolant sensor and fuel pump relay. Still no luck. The spark plugs are wet, so I am guessing it is not getting any spark. I may pick up a new coil as well.
9. Good Deal, I too just came over to the Corrado side from a Golf.
10. Ok, so I ordered a fuel pump relay, ECU relay, and the ECU coolant temp sensor, should be at the auto shop before I get off work. I will pick them up on the way home. Just hope the rain holds out till I can mend it.
11. Not sure if this helps, but I needed the same part, I modified a Passat door handle I got from a breaker yard for a few dollars. With a dremel and some steel stock, it works rather well. Good luck
12. I agree, Just brainstorming, since there is nothing I can do about till after work today.
13. The fuel pump is new, but I will check the pressure when I get home from work. I keep reading more and more about the crank pulley woodruff key or bolt breaking. I guess I have a few things to check when I get home from work. Dodger
14. First off, I removed the G60 supercharger and bypassed it. I was on the test drive and drove about 6 miles. When I came to a stop infront of my car park, it stalled. When I attempted to restart it, it just cranks. After pushing it to its parking spot, it will skip start and die if I push the pedal to the floor when cranking? Any ideas? Mind you the car was sitting for seven years prior to my ownership. The fuel pump, filter, fresh tank of petrol, pressure regualtor, belts, sparking plugs, dizzy cap, rotor and wires are all new.
15. I find that I tend to give more attention to what I have when there is less of them. I gave the GLI to my step son, so now the Corrado is the only VW I "technically" have.
16. never thought of it that way, good reasoning!
17. Is there a reason to remove it? All it does is recycle fumes from the tank into the intake. Is there a gain from removing it?
18. Well I finaly got one! After owning two MK3 Golfs, a MK2 Golf, a MK@ Jetta GLI, a 1972 Squareback, and now finaly a 1990 G60 Corrado! Roughly three weeks ago I found my new baby in Mayfield, Kentucky on the interweb. So I sold my Land Rover (wife says I have too many toys) and hooked up to the car hauler and went to fetch the Corrado. The car had been sitting for about seven years untouched. I ended up replacing the entire fuel system from the pump to the injectors. Changed all the fluids, belts, hoses and enything else rubber. Went for the first drive only to find out that the supercharger seals are leaking oil like a sinking oil tanker. I pulled the g60 yesterday and disassembled it. Tonight I will clean all the parts and search for a rebuild kit. Any tips? Dodger
