  1. Silver 1995 Corrado VR6 - Simple Project Sadly I am selling my Corrado VR6 as I just don't have the time to get it back to full health PLUS I need to buy a house. Below are some details but hopefully the pics will help. History - I bought the car a few months back with then intention of bringing back to life but since then I have been up the unit to work on it twice :s The car came on some 16" aftermarket wheels which I have replaced with BBS Solitude's. The chap I bought the car off owned it for 5 years and used it daily until the radiator went. Due to work commitments he took it off the road and bought a newer more reliable car...... it then stood for 12 months. Details; Silver Corrado VR6 (1995) Black leather interior (heated seats) Everything works including the rear spoiler. Interior is in great condition, however the headlining has a rip in it. No TAX or MOT 192K on the clocks Bodywork is tatty but can easily be sorted with a little time. Main issue it the whole in the rear sill but that could easily be fixed if you can or know somebody that can weld. Engine is fine however the radiator went on the previous owner. I have bought a new radiator and all the servicing bits however just haven't had time to fit them. If somebody wants to hear it running I can start it but don't want to have it running long due to no coolant. The car comes with boxes full of bits which I will try and post pics of in comments. It also comes with two spare wings as the ones on the car as you can see are goosed. I also have a spare tailgate, door and headlining but they are at a friends and i can't get them for a couple of weeks. It also has loads of receipts showing that mechanically this car has been looked after over the years. Viewing welcome but please no tyre kickers. 2. Thanks for the replies guys :) I will take a look at your thread etc. I will start a build thread once I have picked the old girl up and got cracking.
  3. Hi Guys, Next week I am picking up a VR6. The car has done 193k and was driven daily for 5 years until the radiator went 12 months ago. Once I get it back I intend to first of all give the engine an overhaul and any of your input would be much appreciated. I am from a MK1 Golf / MK2 Scirocco background so don't know much about the VR6 engine yet. Below is what I intend to do..... do you all think this needs doing, if so how difficult are we thinking? I have removed and fitted engines in my previous cars. Timing Chain - The car currently sounds find but due to being at 193k I have been told I should probably replace the chain/guides. I have also been told that this would be a good time to do the clutch too?? is there anything else I should do whilst I'm at it? Also is this a difficult job needing specialist tools or is it just time consuming due to how much has to be removed. Radiator / Coolant hoses - due to needing a new radiator I thought I may as well replace all the coolant hoses.....guessing this isn't too big of a job. HT Leads, plugs, coil pack and Battery - Just for piece of mind. Oil/Filter - Obvious one seeing as it's been stood for 12 months. It also has a leak from what I have been told is an oil sensor at the front of the engine. Guessing will be a quick fix with a new sensor? ABS - The guy I am buying it off said the ABS light sometimes flickers on. He thinks it could be the ABS sensor...... anybody else had this before? Like I say, I have never worked with a VR so this could be interesting. I am willing to get stuck in and have a go but if I need specialist tools for things like the timing chain I think I may avoid it. Any input would be great. Thanks
  4. Hi guys, thanks for the replies and good shout on the Goldie on. I love the look on the Comps..... may have to nick that look :)
  5. Hi Guys, So this evening i have agreed to buy a Corrado VR6 Project which i will be picking up next week:) I am now looking for a little advise from you lovely knowledgable lot. As you can see from the images below it's feeling a little sorry for itself but I am getting ti with some spares such as spare wings and tailgate etc. 1. The car has 193k on the clock but has been regularly serviced. My mate who I am buying it off says the drive chain and clutch ideally should be replaced soon....... is this a must or can I leave this for a little? 2. The drivers side sill is goosed with a hole at in the bottom corner near the arch. Would you recommend trying to get a piece from a breakers or getting a pattern panel. If a pattern, can anybody recommend where I can get one without paying the earth. 3. The car has been stood for 12 months and stopped being used due to a whole in the radiator. It has been regularly started but not ran for too long for obvious reasons. I am going to fit a new radiator and replace the coolant hoses. Can anybody recommend a somewhere that does a good OEM set of hoses. 4. Are there any common bits and bobs I should be looking at? With this car i am not looking to modify etc just try and bring it back as close to OEM as possible (I have a mk2 Rocco which i save all the mods for). The body has been neglected for a long time it seems so that will take up most of my time. I just want to get the engine and electrics running sweet :) If any of you are interested here is my Rocco :) Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  6. Thanks for all the positive comments guys :) I originally came from owning and playing with MK1 Golfs so was pleasantly surprised when I found out the MK2 Rocco is pretty much the exact same setup :) @BarberG60 - Indeed I did buy the shell of a cheeky chappy from down south (not sure if it's Kent) called James Cook :) Nice guy.
  7. Hi Mate, Thanks for the reply, somebody has actually been in touch with me via PM this evening and I have confirmed I will buy them. If anything goes wrong I will give you a shout.

  9. Hi All, I joined the forum a while back with the intention of getting a VR6 for a bit of fun whilst I built my Rocco. This never happened and I decided to spend more money on the Rocco. Anyhoo I thought some of you may be interested in seeing what I have done so far seeing as the Raddo is the baby brother of the Rocco. Long story cut short; I owned a Green GT11 which I fitted a 1.8 16v KR in. I also removed all the injection and replaced with Bike carbs. I had big plans for the green one but then a black Scala shell came on the market which seemed too good to miss. I bought the shell in April 2014 along with a load of other bits such as new wheels etc and began to build the new car using all the running gear, engine, and interior from my old rocco. I got the car running but had a couple of electrical faults and then it decided to stop starting and blowing fuses. Over the past two weeks i have finally fixed all the electrical issues meaning i can now start to tart it up and HOPEFULLY get ready for Ultimate Dubs 2015 :) Here are some pics of it through the process and a little vid. Hopefully I can post some better pics in a few weeks when it starts to get tarted up :) My original Rocco; Conversion from fuel injection to bike carbs; Spec; GSXR 750 Carbs re-jetted Custom stainless manifold Facet Red Top fuel pump filter king fuel regulator New Shell arrived; Start the surgery; Routing wiring; One empty old shell; Fitting interior;
  10. Is anybody selling a set of corrado VR6 Front seats. Any colour so long as in full working order, however is they were black that would be ideal :) I am based in the North West of England and am prepared to pickup so long as not over 150 miles away. Cheers Phil
  11. For anybody that is interested, seeing as I have mentioned my old MK1 Golf here are some pics of it. 1st day home; Stripped and sprayed; How it looked in the end; Old video, may or may not work;
  12. Thanks for the replies guys and thanks for the positive feedback on the Rocco :) i've come from MK1 Golf's so the Rocco in most ways has been very similar however parts are much more difficult to get hold of lol. Coming from the MK1 I haven't had a huge amount to compare the handling against other than my first car which was a 1 litre MK3 Polo and my previous car which was a 1.9 TDI Bora which I simply got bored of. I think the Rocco handles pretty well for what it is but I can feel the front end being a little bit skitty, I'm looking at fitting upper and lower braces on the front once I've lowered it and an upper on the rear. That should stiffen things upa bit plus if I go down the cage route that will no doubt stiffen tings up even more. As for the Corrado, what you have all said about the 1.8 and 2.0 16v models is exactly as I thought, running the 16v in the rocco the Corrado would just feel gutless which is why im thinking about the VR. Another reason I'd quite like a VR is because I'm not really intending on getting rid of it. I'm hoping to keep both the Rocco and VR for a very long time so I think I may as well save for a bit and get a mint top of the range VR, possibly a Storm. I am ideally after a 1993 model too so I can stick it on classic insurance. BMW wise, i have looked at them in the past, I was looking at the 320d but I simply can't see myself buying anything other than VAG. The only thing i have had that hasn't been VW was an LDV Van which was good because parts were dirt cheap BUT thats because you have to buy the damn things so often lol.

  14. Hi Guys, I currently own and an working on a MK2 Scirocco GT11 fitted with a 1.8 16v KR engine. I have big plans for the car which I will post below BUT i am also thinking about getting a Corrado as kind of daily. Basically if I get one thats register in 1992/3 I can put it on classic insurance like the Rocco and split low mileage between the two. I am thinking about a VR6 as I'd quite like the creature comforts like leather and heated seats etc but I've heard they can be more hassle than they're worth? so maybe a 2ltre 16v? Anyway below is my Rocco along with a list of things I want to do and a drawing of how I kind of want it to look in the end (Next show season hopefully) Drawing of future car; Removed Body Kit Removed Spoiler Removed Side Repeaters Removed arial Removed Fog Lights MK1 Golf arches fabricated in front and rear Yellow tint headlights Lowered (on day on air ride but for starters just on coilovers) Bullet steel wheels Currently has a customer straight through to back box stainless exhaust (may change this to a custom side exit) Half cage Rear seats removed and fake floor built with a spare wheel (bullet wheel) on display and a nice subtle but good sound system. Half Cage Either my seats done in leather, Passat CC seats or Porsche 944 seats. Things may change but this is the general idea. Since owning the car (about six months) the car I have done some bits and bobs such as removing the engine and completing a full rebuild, custom exhaust, refurbed the G60 wheels. Below are some pics of this. Bits for rebuild.... not the cheapest in the world and piston rings were a twat to get. Engine out; Ont stand ready to strip; Stripped; starting to build; Built and ready to go back in; Guy who had it before me bodges a down pipe............. what the **** is this. Needless to say this has now gone and i have had one custom made. Custom made straight through to back box stainless exhaust thanks to Power Flo. Sounds awesome and comes out straight which I wanted. Nothing i hate more than angled exhausts on Rocco's. Then I decided to refurb the wheels as they had been on my previous Rocco and were looking tatty; Not bad considering it only cost me £25 all in all and took about 48 hours with drying etc. 1 pack of assorted sand papers Newspaper masking tape 2 x cans or grey primer 4 x cans of paint 2 x cans of lacquer 2 coats of primer per wheel / cap 4 x coats of paint 2 x coats of lacquer. Thats it for now. Car will soon be rolling road and dyno'd as its not running quite right. Running a little rich plus it has a bad earth which i need to sort very soon. Let me know your thoughts both on Corrado's and my car. Cheers Phil
