There are two different lots of MK4 carriers, those for 2wd cars with 256mm rears like Anniversary and late V5, and then those on the 4-Motion with 256mm rears, and think there is about a 6mm offset difference between the two, but don't know which one works for this swap.

N90223802 is the 59x5.3mm one, as is used on cars with a 60mm fuel pump, it looks like they have only just stopped doing this as I bought one a few months ago. The 53x5.3mm one is for those PL engined Mk2 Golf 16v that we didnt get here, as they run a smaller 52mm pump, and would have been part number N90262802.

Might aswell list all the racks, just incase its of help to anyone else... RHD (non VR6) 1989 to 1992 = 192422061P (has 36 splines where column UJ attaches) RHD (non VR6) 1992 to 1995 = 192422061K (has 22 splines where column UJ attaches) RHD VR6 = 1H2422061A The early non-VR6 one is just the same as a Mk2 Golf 16V, and the VR6 one is shared with Mk3 GTi/VR6. Its just that late non-VR6 one which is a bit of an odd ball, as only seem to be on Corrados even though they have a Mk2 Golf looking part number.

You can bolt the 6N2 Polo stub axle on, and use 9N3 Polo hub/bearing to give you 5x100. If the car has ABS you need to do something about the ABS rotor, as the 9N3 hubs have one of those magnetic type ones, not punchd out metal ones, and dont know if the hub is machined to the same size where the rotor sits.

I am guessing this is on a 2.0 16v 9A, as they have the inductive pick up round one of the plug leads... Even if you buy Genuine leads they dont come with the sensor, you have to remove the lead end slide the sensor on, and then fit the end back on the lead. How successfull this is depends on how the leads are made, all the descent leads like the Beru ones have clip on ends, so you can remove and refit a lead end without messing it up, but dont know if the cheaper leads are made in the same way.

Plus its only £2.71+vat to buy it from VW (part No. 871511423)

The spring seats change at the end '94 on the Corrado VR6, and are also found on Mk3 GTi/VR6 but only upto to the end of '93. The ones you need are 1H0412341, and are still available new from VW main dealers, currently £17.46+vat.

That because TRW bought out Lucas/Girling back in '99 for a whopping $6.5 Billion! Everything is now sold under the TRW name, but some of tooling is original as bits are still made with the Lucas name cast into them.

Sounds to me like your car has one Mk2 Golf ARB Link, and one Corrado one. On the Mk2 Golf (apart from G60) the threaded part is inline with the bush, and on the Corrado (and Golf G60) ones the bush is offset to one side.
