badlad1888 0 Posted October 4, 2004 I have just bought my second rado, a g60 and it has two problems 1. with someone in the back off the car, when you put the foot down it sounds like a hammer hitting the underside off the car at the rear.i had a look but everything looks ok, any ideas! 2. when i change gear above 5000rpm i can hear a high pitch chirping noise is this normal! as you can guess i have no mechanical experience and need help!!!!!
dr_mat 0 Posted October 4, 2004 1) exhaust banging on rear axle. car been lowered? get the exhaust mounts looked at! 2) take the sparrows out from under the driver's seat!!! ;)
badlad1888 0 Posted October 4, 2004 ok i will get that checked out asap about the exhaust. i am guessing the gasses escaping on the gear change is normal,i have owned the car a few weeks and never driven it hard until the weekend, then i heard the noise. :D got to show the clio sport boys who is boss!! ben16v 0 Posted October 4, 2004 hissing i`m thinking you`ve had the boost return mod done??? i`m no expert ....???
Jim 2 Posted October 4, 2004 The car hisses and whistles all the time when its had the boost return removed.. I think it must just be slightly tuned - every single G60 i've ever been in ALWAYS sounds different - you get all kinds of weird whistles, hisses, droans, etc etc depending on which car you go in! Mine makes a cool little whistle / dump valve kinda noise when you change up at quite high revs :D
badlad1888 0 Posted October 5, 2004 the car has had some work done before i got it so there is a good chance, you guys could be right. thanks :D

chubbybrown 0 Posted October 5, 2004 has it been lowered ? sounds like tyres rubbing the rims or mudflaps scraping the ground or weak exhaust hangers ( rubbers ) just the xtra weight in the back makes the differance.

theRuler 0 Posted October 6, 2004 the banging sounds like the exhaust flapping about what are the engine mounts like? if the front one is slack, just a little rock in the engine can send the pipe nuts
vwdubs 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Another noise that could be causing the banging is the handbrake cable not located properly
