Jonny Chee 0 Posted October 16, 2004 My G60 holds 12 gallons. I can never get much more than 200 miles from a tank! Even when I drive like my Dad! Since last fill up I have been taking my time (averaging 25pmg on MFA) and its still the same! My fuel guage goes down much faster than this. Usually when I have used 5 gallons I have only done aroun 70 miles! (The maths seems wrong to me). Any ideas?
Banana Man 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Is it tuned with a chip or anything??? CO pot might needa small adjustment or might be fault with lambda sounds like it's running rich to me is the tailpipe sooted up black at all? Should get 250+ miles on a full tank even in a tuned state
Jonny Chee 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Yeah the tailpipe is pretty sooted up I noticed it today actually! I have a Jabba Chip and rebuilt charger... I am taking my car to JMR on 31st October so hopefully he will be able to sort it as its costing me a small fortune!

That would be why then they are notrious for runing your car extremely richI fitted a sns stg 5 chip in G60Jets car while I was out in spain and not only did it improve performance but he also got better fuel economy. My advise is to change the chip and get a decent one I ran a jabba chip for a while but changed it for an sns and the difference is very noticable ( for the better of course :D 8) ) While your down in sussex pop into G Werks it's only round the corner from JMR and they will sort ya little problem out for ya!!! h100vw 0 Posted October 17, 2004 I'd say the lambda probe or the blue temp sender is Donald ducked. My mk3 16V had to be driven like a nun to get 30mpg. While changing the suspension I discovered the previous owner who had a 'Rage' back box fitted(says it all  ) also had a bypass pipe fitted. The comedy exhaust specialist hadn't bothered to put the probe ito it. So when I fitted the empty cat from my G60 Golf on there, with probe installed I got an instant increase of nearly 10mpg. Gavin
Banana Man 0 Posted October 17, 2004 RAGE Backbox??? LOL never even heard of them but sounds to me like boy racer el cheapo special :D Mighty clever exhaust fitter as well not plumbing in the lambda, what did he do disconnect it and binned it??? LOL
Jonny Chee 0 Posted October 17, 2004 Hmmmm. Jabba Chip..... I have heard nothing but negativiity about Jabba (previous owner did all the mods, not me). How much do you think I would be looking at financially to get the Jabba Chip changed for an sns stage 5 chip? Does JMR do these chips (as I mentioned before I am going down there in two weeks). Cheers, Mark.
Supercharged 2 Posted October 17, 2004 I think G-werks charge £100 for the SNS chip and then £50 to remap it thereafter..
Banana Man 0 Posted October 17, 2004 G werks have a heavy involment with sns and have all the equipment to setup the chip, they do them day in day out so should really be your first port of call and as steve says you'll be looking at about £150 in total but it'll probably pay for itself over the next year with the fuel savings you'll be making :D Dont know if john uses sns chips think he still uses jeff ex amd guru but that will cost in excess of £400 for a fully remapped chip but I could be wrong best give both of them a ring and weigh up your options!!! LOL  They tywrapped the probe to the heat shield. It was in fresh air so the ECU thought it was running weak all the time hence the tragic consumption.
