RACK 0 Posted November 5, 2004 Good points = Noise and fuel economy Bad points = Noise and fuel economy. Twin carbs sound awesome, especially at full chat through a tunnel. But they need setting up quite regular and can be thirsty. I think I've read somewhere they can be a bit of trouble to start on a cold day too. I'm not sure how much power you'll get out of them either, I remember reading a mag years ago where they put a set of 48's on a 16v 'Roco and the gains weren't that impressive. But the induction roar was. You should be able to do the conversion for about £700. Or spend a bit more and get some Throttle bodies instead.
theRuler 0 Posted November 5, 2004 i was advised to stick to injection, and pursue different routes for more power when i was looking at running carbs on one of my golfs. twin carbs make a big difference on a car that has one carb already. ie - the old fiesta XR2's would go lots better on twin 40's it would take a lot for an engine to be tuned outside of the capability of fuel injection. until you reach that point, stick with the injection.
