coullstar 0 Posted November 5, 2004 Anybody know what the torque requirement for the fill/empty allen key plugs on the gearbox? Do they have to be loctited?
Geo 0 Posted November 5, 2004 They don't have to be loctited. I don't think that the torque settings are critical with them. If you are worried about leaks then put some sort of silicone type sealer on the threads. Just tighten them up 'normally' bearing in mind that you might want to open them from time to time to check oil levels/change oil etc....
kangaroo 0 Posted November 5, 2004 I've noticed the drain/refil plugs don't have any 'heads' on them, so to speak.. Does anyone know if it be possible to screw them right into the gearbox (and lose them) if you kept on tighening and tightening...? (Not that you would, cos that'd be stupid.. But I'm just curious.) Jonathan 0 Posted November 5, 2004 If it's like a typical sump plug, they have a slight taper on them so they just get tighter and tighter. Jonathan

Thats the reason I was asking about the Loctite as that crossed my mind after looking at them.
Geo 0 Posted November 5, 2004 No that can't happen they just tighten up like an ordinary bolt.
