Diagnostic check today

Recommended Posts

cost £58 and I have been told I need a new distributor and....a new metering head  .

Not a problem getting the distributor but the metering head is going to break the bank!

Are there any alternatives???

Anywhere sell re-con. ones?

Can get one from the scrappy for £50 but could be false economy in the long run.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Bit of a lucky dip - may get a good one, may get a bad one.

If you need a new one - I'll have a look & see if it's something that we stock when I get to work tomorrow.

Your's is a 2.0-16v ?

Yes 2.0 16v. Engine code is 9a.Had a look on the GSF website but there was nothing listed.

Been quoted £860 plus vat from the stealers!

Cheers

Yeah that's a scandalous price.

Have a word with Stealth as they usually have metering heads kicking around. He had a stock of brand new MHs and braided lines a few years ago, dunno if he's got any left though....worth a try.

I picked up a MH for my 1.8 16v off an old MK2 for £30..You should be able to pick one up for munch cheaper than you have been quoted!

Good Luck

Phoned Stealth with no joy.

Not any immediate rush as the car is actually running ok. I just want to have one as back up incase the old one dies. One of the "valves" is sticking inside. This is causing the engine to run on for a couple of seconds when the ignition is turned off.
