Hub

Recommended Posts

Got greeted this morning with 2 of me bolts sheering off on passenger front

I have got the 2 snapped bits out, got the wheel back on and using 4 new bolts.

They all seem to grip up well but i am concerned if it'll happpen again working loose or all of a sudden go on a journey

Whats the best way to check that the threads are not wrecked?

Also for piece of mind whats the damage on a new hub?

cheers chris

New hubs are "cheap as chips" - we sell 'em, can't remember exactly how much though.. :?

You'll need a press to fit them .. :( (change the front wheel bearings at the same time too)

Sheered wheel bolts! Blimey...

If the replacement bolts wind in OK, the threads are fine. You can visibly if the threads are shafted.

You need to copper grease wheel bolts ideally, and also the hub faces on the rear wheels.

Torque the wheel bolts to 110nm and check them once a month, otherwise you'll potentially suffer the same fate as Mike Edwards and ChrisVR6NOS and have a wheel fall off on you.
